Twelve countries in the European Union (EU) failed to install “a single wind turbine” last year, the CEO of industry body WindEurope said Thursday.
Giles Dickson added that growth in onshore wind fell by more than half in Germany last year and “collapsed in the U.K.”, stating that, in the EU, 2018 was “the worst year for new wind energy installations since 2011.” —CNBC News, 21 February 2019
Growth in onshore wind “collapsed” in the UK, with a fall in installations from 26% in 2017 to 16% last year. The report suggests the end of the Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) caused a peak in 2017 and onshore wind installations will now have to rely on power purchase agreements (PPA) and other options as the UK Government has confirmed there will be no auctions for onshore wind. —Energy Live News, 21 February 2019
As country after country abandons, curtails or reneges on once-generous support for renewable energy, Europe is beginning to realise that its green energy strategy is dying on the vine. Green dreams are giving way to hard economic realities. –Benny Peiser, The Australian, 10 August 2013
We have much to thank the Global Warming Policy Forum for. Who else is keeping a close, critical and skeptical eye on the EU’s and UK’s energy policy? —Kathy Gyngell, The Conservative Woman, 24 February 2019
How ironic it was last week to hear the BBC leading its news on that Commons report claiming that our “democracy is being destroyed” by the flood of “fake news” spread by social media. In fact, thanks to the relentless bias of its own coverage of so many issues, there is no more influential source of “fake news” than the BBC itself. —Christopher Booker, The Sunday Telegraph, 24 February 2019

Wind and Solar energy is a total scam being forced upon them by narrow minded fools to caught up in Stupidland to know the difference of even care
“12 countries in the EU failed to install a single wind turbine last year” That is a clear statement.
“Growth in the UK of onshore wind “collapsed” from 26% in 2017 to 16% last year” is dodgy. Could we get the numbers? I get the impression that only the rate of growth dropped, but that there’s still an increase on land, without mention of offshore installations. We got the same kind of mealy mouthed stuff from the Ontario government, that no new green energy contracts were being signed. However, a truckload of contracts that had been signed would be built.
Wind and solar is supposed to be energy for free. Except for some up-front costs.
It is those pesky up-front costs and the irritating disappearing energy source that sure throws a wrench into things.
If only there was a carbon-free source of energy that was continuous. Golly, what ever could that be!? Nuclear. Oh yeah, can’t have that either.
The first book on global warming that I bought was from Lawrence Solomon, “The Deniers” . Michael Mann got skewered in the book by McKitrick and McIntyre. Solomon is a No-nukes guy. He wrote his book because he’s worried that the elimination of fossil fuels would lead to more nuclear stations.
We need multiple sources of electricity for dependability.
