During a town hall event in Iowa this week, “moderate” Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden endorsed a ban not just on plastic bags, but on plastic use in general.
“When I go back to Kenya, we don’t even use plastic bags or plastic papers. It’s not allowed, because we are trying to clean the ocean. And I think here in America, we are not trying to do that, to support the environment. And so, what’s your view? I mean, what’s your focus? Because in Kenya, we are trying to clean the environment. No plastic bags, you go with your own bags,” a woman asked.
“We should not be allowing plastic. And what we should do is phasing [sic] it out,” Biden said.
In Kenya, government officials hold up neighborhoods at gunpoint in search of plastic bags. The penalty for possessing one is four years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines.
Plastic bag bans also do little to clean up the environment.
“The few states that have banned shopping bags are blue states with some of the highest taxes and most onerous regulations — states like California, Connecticut, and Hawaii,” Americans for Tax Reform points out.
“Experience from these far-left states shows the bans do not reduce litter. Biden wants to impose the failed blue state model on the entire nation.”
In addition to his extremism on plastic, Biden has called for a carbon tax on household energy. This kind of tax burden affects poor and middle-class families the most by making basic energy sources more expensive.

I wonder if there are any synthetic compounds in Biden’s clothing and shoes. Does he overlook the plastics in his Car etc? For instance, what would be the weight of a car that didn’t use them, and so use more fuel?
Over my life time I have seen this lack of thorough thought over and over again in Lefty Governments. For example in the 1950’s Wilson’s first action was to impose a 15% tax on all imports, totally forgetting that Britain depended on importing so much. Also he put 6d extra tax on every gallon of petrol. Since everything had to be moved to shops and stores, this gave them all an excuse to raise prices even more and so the inflation began. As for Wilson he ended up with 5 Farms and great wealth far more than a PM could have earned in salary.
Probably a wise investor, like many of our former presidents. 🙁

People who make statements like banning all plastics just show how ignorant they are. There is a lot of plastic in that private plain Biden plans to use to go between the primary and the impeachment hearing. Plastic makes up most of the structure of MRI’s, CAT scan, Ultra Sound machines. Plastics are a major component of TV’s and most electronic equipment.
One of the motivations for starting the global warming movement was it provides an excuse for new taxes. This makes it very attractive to liberals who can never extract enough money from the public to fund all of their excessive spending programs.

I’m sure dems envy the ability of Kenya to apply fascist tactics to the possession of plastic bags. Joe likely favors road blocks and immediately frog marching plastic bag users off to prison. Don’t worry Quid Pro Joe will not be President.
Die hard Democrats won’t vote for President Trump. A lot of them won’t vote. So the candidates for the Democrats nominee can say anything they want, for whatever reason. The House of Representatives is up for grabs.
It could be what we have here is a bidding war among the Democratic presidential candidates for the radical voters in their party. As stupid as Biden has demonstrated himself to be in the primary, I have a hard time believing that he is so stupid and uninformed to actually want to ban all plastic. However, this gives the Republicans good ammunition to use against Biden, if they would use it. It seems that the Republicans fail to take advantage of many good issues that the Democrats hand them on a silver platter.
