Journalists love lefty activists — especially when they are pushing propaganda. The New York Times and Washington Post both celebrated how an online “influencer army” was promoting a “personality-driven campaign” in separate weekend stories.
The Times featured government-funded talking heads pushing the Coronavirus vaccine to underage children “to fight vaccine lies.” The Post was thrilled that “self-described trolls” were harassing oil companies on social media.

The Post article was traditional climate-change hysteria, loaded with love for green troll Mary Heglar and her “deep reserves of anger.”
The story said, “the 37-year-old climate essayist and podcaster haunts the feeds of fossil fuel companies, harnessing memes and the native language of the Internet to engage her particular brand of climate activism against the flow of misinformation in the digital ether.”

Of course, it included a young woke journalist turned eco-nut. “Elia Griffin, a senior studying journalism and design at the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts in New York, wrestles with intense climate anxiety that ‘manifests mostly as existential dread.’”
Griffin needs serious help.
Here’s a classic quote that should have her working at the Post when she graduates.
‘If you compare your individual self to those Big Oil companies, they’re the ones who are committing these crimes and destroying the earth, way more than myself as an individual,’ Griffin said. ‘It kind of feels like you’re bullying the bully.’

As a retired oil & gas employee, most of that time spent in regulatory affairs, I find “activist” folks like those depicted in this article quite LAME. The media continually “platforms” individuals & organizations that have NO KNOWLEDGE or expertise in environmental regulation or energy imperatives. Nothing but propaganda. The Biden Administration has “stocked” many government positions with former environmental NGO members and in effect, has created an anti-fossil fuel “echo chamber.” These misinformed, misguided ZEALOTS are now determining the course of our national environmental and energy policy. Basically, we are developing a high wire act without a net! Demonizing energy PROVIDERS has proven to be a very “fertile” ground and an easy target as the oil & gas industry RARELY fights back. So public confidence, falsely, continues to erode with our well established energy & regulatory systems. If you actually want to pursue a practical SOLUTION to the energy transition challenge, then these “enviro crusaders” just need to answer one fundamental question: ” What CLEAN, SCALABLE & AFFORDABLE alternative do YOU propose to REPLACE fossil fuels and 80% of our nations primary energy?” Don’t use SLOGANS like “100% renewables by X Date” as your answer as those have no basis in REALTY. All this academic posturing is just great until your short sighted energy & environmental policies destabilize your energy system. Self inflicted wound. Too bad when all this probable forthcoming PAIN could be avoided if we could just have a civilized, adult, thoughtful & fully informed energy debate. The physics of energy imperatives do not recognize or abide by ideology. Regrettably, these social science types and the average citizen are about to learn this distinction…
Well said Randy. The politicians know nothing about energy production and they get their “information” from grifters who are looking to make money from “Green Energy” subsidies and dictates. All of our advanced societies would collapse if they got their way. And the one “Green Energy” that could actually be used to reduced consumption of fossil fuels is the one that they won’t consider: Nuclear.
