During WW2 & the Cold War…U.S. subs routinely landed soldiers to measure Ice Depth in the ARCTIC…..10′ to 16′ was a common depth…….today, seldom do the get close to 10 feet thick….
SO WHEN this reactionary site talks about ICE EXTENT….notice they never talk about Depth (actually QUANTITY) of ice…
By the Way, we are going into ARCTIC winter with next to no sunlight during the period they report on…there is NO SUN in the ARCTIC 24 HOURS a day today…..ice should be spreading and thickening.
LAST year, MID WINTER, with no sun 24 hours a day…..temperatures reached above the freezing mark…..when the temp is usually 25 Below to 65 Below ZERO !
And last year around this time of year…..there was a 300,000 Square Mile Lake (slush & water)…that is the size of TEXAS….
Complete with a Niagara Style Water Fall…and a RAIN shower…..
WHO EVER HEARD of a RAIN SHOWER on the desert continent….where the average temperature year around is 52 BELOW ZERO

Did you even pay attention to this article before spewing your nonsense. The titles say: “Mass Budget of the Greenland Ice Sheet” and also “Mass gains of Antarctic Ice Sheet greater than losses” Most of this IS about the QUANTITY of ice, and not about the amount of ice extent!
It is interesting that you picked the time frame of World War II. Of the warming blamed on mankind, 40% occurred between 1910 and 1941. I would expect the ice to be thinner at that time.
