Channel Ten news tonight discusses the sudden surge in demand for diesel generators
Homes and businesses are so afraid of blackouts in Australia that some retailers are selling four times as many generators as normal.
Mygenerator.com.au reports a 425% increase year on year.
The strongest growth has been in South Australia, Victoria, and western Sydney.
According to Channel Ten, Energy companies across Australia have sent letters to their customers to warn customers to be prepared in case there is a blackout.
But one company says it’s just a precaution they are required to do every year. (Does anyone ever remember getting a letter like that?)
Once the renewables industry just wanted “certainty” for business (as in certainty of taxpayer-funded subsidies).
Now “certainty” means a diesel generator.

The fact that buying a generator makes more sense now in Southern Australia shows that they have implemented a stupid climate motivated energy policy. However, the use of generators is common in other places for other reasons. Where I live almost everyone has a generator. Our power comes in along miles and miles of roads in a forest. When wind gusts get to 45 mph or more, some of those trees come down. If anyone wants to claim climate is a factor, I’ll point out that power outages are not as common as they used to be.
For once you made what in theory could be a valid point in that the transition was too rapid. However, the fact is shutting down fossil fuels won’t work, period. The effort to do so has already caused power prices to sore in southern Australia, the UK, and Germany. A recent analysis published in the Climate Change Dispatch shows that Germany’s energiewende can never work.
There is no need to stop or even cut down the use of fossil fuels. The evidence is carbon dioxide does not cause warming. Of the warming blamed on mankind 40% was between 1910 and 1941 when carbon dioxide levels were lower and relatively stable. The warming pause, which would be better named the end of warming, has occurred during a period of rapid increase in the level of CO2. As time goes on the UN climate models deviate further and further from real world data.
