As the northeastern U.S. gets pummeled by Winter Storm Stella, it’s worth remembering The New York Times published an op-ed predicting the “end of snow” more than three years ago.
Peter Fox, the editor of Powder magazine, suggested “The End Of Snow?” in a February 2014 op-ed. Fox lamented the cancellation of two events at the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia that year, and noted predictions that some cities would be too warm to even hold the winter games.
“[W]ith a rise in the average global temperature of more than 7 degrees Fahrenheit possible by 2100, there might not be that many snowy regions left in which to hold the Games,” Fox wrote for The NYT.
“Europe has lost half of its Alpine glacial ice since the 1850s, and if climate change is not reined in, two-¬≠thirds of European ski resorts will be likely to close by 2100,” Fox wrote. “The same could happen in the United States, where in the Northeast, more than half of the 103 ski resorts may no longer be viable in 30 years because of warmer winters.”
Scientists have measured a general decrease in Northern Hemisphere monthly snow extent since 1966, but that takes into account all 12 months of the year. Though even then, snow extent has increased since the late 1980s.
But Northern Hemisphere winter snow extent has increased in that time. Rutgers University’s Global Snow Lab lays it out here:

What’s interesting is Fox wrote his article not long after Winter Storm Jonas left 30 people dead and millions more covered in up to two feet of snow in January. That winter season was one of the coldest on record, according to a meteorologist with AccuWeather.
Many parts of the Midwest and East saw way more snow than usual. Philadelphia, for example, saw 314 percent of its average yearly snowfall that winter.
Whose big idea was it to name winter weather fronts “storms” ? It seems to be part of the extreme weather propaganda. We’re up to S (as in Stella) in the alphabet . Can you remember 19 blizzards this winter?
Unofficially, 2017 has set a record for the LOWEST Arctic Maximum and LOWEST Antarctic minimum AND the lowest GLOBAL sea ice in the satellite record. All this while we are in yet another solar minimum.

Based on record keeping since 1880, or about the time of the industrial revolution and heavy use of fossil fuels, climate has been on a warming trend due to a chemical change within the atmosphere (40% increase of CO2).
Climate changes with either long term trends in either direction . Currently warming thankfully . The Arctic used to cover twice the area and is anyone really unhappy they aren’t trying to live on top of ice thousands of feet deep ? Humans by our very existence change the climate a statistically immeasurable amount. Hopefully assisting in the current but temporary warming trend . Plants love it and life flourishes .
Why do green washers have a problem with that ? There are plenty of pollutants
to be concerned about but Co2 isn’t the big scary it is made out to be .
People like Al Gore , Dicaprio , and Nye all hang out in sunny polluted California for a reason . Why don’t they live in Alaska where they can freeze their ass off ?

Yes it does amber, yes it does but ONLY when some force acts upon it. So, we know the current sea ice loss and temperature trends are NOT due to a change in volcanism, Earth’s orbit or tilt, a meteor strike, continental drift or even to an increase in the sun’s output (in fact the opposite has occurred). So, I guess, that leaves a change in the atmosphere.
Hmmm, I reckon that our earth, space and atmospheric scientists should look into that issue

Well, you tell me JayPee, has there been a CHANGE in any of these climate forces recently? Maybe you could cite some research into how these climate forces are impacting our current climate. That would be helpful. And, while you are at it, can you throw in some references into your (giggle giggle) albedo climate theory? Right? GREAT!
While we all wait for your big reveal, “logical thinking” people can ponder on those decades of observational data showing the concurrent rise of temperature with increasing CO2 levels in our atmosphere.
