The U.N. afforded Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old climate activist with Asperger syndrome an opportunity to speak before the General Assembly regarding the rapidly approaching collapse of the Earth’s fragile climate.
Wednesday’s release of a new U.N. report warning that the “World’s oceans and mountains are in big trouble from climate change” was conveniently timed to coincide with Ms. Thunberg’s appearance at that august body.
Also, Thunberg was recently named one of four recipients of “the 2019 Right Livelihood Award, known as Sweden’s alternative Nobel Prize.” Quite an accomplished young lady, wouldn’t you say?
Asperger syndrome is towards the milder end of what is termed autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Thunberg calls this her “superpower” or her “neurodiversity” as she described in an interview on CBS This Morning:
“I have Asperger’s, I’m on the autism spectrum, so I don’t really care about social codes that way,” she added.
In some cases, she said, her neurodiversity gives her an advantage. It “makes you different and makes you think differently,” she said. “Especially in a big crisis like this one, we need to think outside the box, we need to think outside our current system, we need people who think outside the box and who aren’t like everyone else.”
This is the first time I’ve encountered the term and was astonished to learn that major international corporations use consideration of same in their hiring practices:
JPMorgan Chase’s Autism at Work program, which piloted in 2015 with four people, now includes more than 140 employees in eight countries performing mostly technology-related roles, the company says. Pilot program participants were faster and more productive than their peers, according to the company.
“There are multiple factors that contribute to this, but the commonalities are strong visual acuity, attention to detail and a superior ability to concentrate,” Autism at Work global head James Mahoney said in a blog post.
Well, I suppose neurodiversity could be climate-expert enabling or a plus on one’s resume.
To paraphrase George C. Scott in Dr. Strangelove, “I wish we had some of that neurodiversity.” Perhaps twisting this bit by George Wallace would be more descriptive and to-the-point: “Diversity today, diversity tomorrow, diversity forever.”
Lord help us.

Einstien also had Asperger’s disease. Great minds.
Think outside the box? OK, so instead of the continuing vilification of energy PROVIDERS and needless climate “hysteria,” let’s go to work. Here in the U.S, the environmental activists have decided that all fossil fuels must be ELIMINATED. So, welcome to the energy TRANSITION challenge with attendant environmental protection! In this arena, you only have to answer ONE fundamental question” What CLEAN, SCALABLE & SUSTAINABLE alternative do you suggest to replace 95% of our transportation fuel & industrial heat and 65% of our electricity generation?” Oh, sorry, SLOGANS like “100% renewables by X Date” have no basis in reality, so try again! Unfortunately for Greta, being able to “see CO2” in the atmosphere may play well at the UN General Assembly, but it serves no constructive purpose with the hard REALTIES of energy transition. Welcome aboard, Greta and the rest of the “theater troupe”…No EASY BUTTON in the energy space!
I don’t doubt Greta’s intelligence. I will concede some people on the skeptic side of the spectrum have been have bullied her but she has a a lot of naivete on how the world truly works. We can have a just transition, one where fossil fuels and renewables work in tandem and are there to provide reliable and cheap energy for our growing planet. But I refuse to subscribe to these dramatics, where climate activists scream, shout and cry and claim ‘we’ve murdered them.’
So the Communists Broadcasting System(CBS)calls her the Voice of the Planet? Well since many Eco-Wackos are into this Gaia nonsense like James Lovelock and some Hollywood Airheads Yeah liberals are Nuts total’y nuts
Mountains are in trouble from climate change? Must be powerful stuff, this climate change! There’s nowhere to hide from sea level rise? I’m building an ark.
Mountains are indeed in trouble from climate change. Ever seen what a continental glacier can do to a mountain? 😉
My youngest son has a mild case of Asperger syndrome and is very intelligent and has a high level of concentration ability. His ability to concentrate often times causes him to not see things he should outside of his area of focus. If Greta was doing her own thinking that would explain her inability to see that renewable energy without nuclear can not come close to meeting the needs of our modern society. However, Greta does not do her own thinking. She is just a robot doing what others tell her to do.
Greta is the Wizard Of Oz with a posse of adults using her youth to hide behind .
The cute puppy with hurt feelings .
No one wants to tell her the truth .
Humans have almost zero impact on the climate . The natural climate variables set the current direction long long ago as we exited the last ice age . The added CO2 is a fact which still results in it representing less than 1 % of the atmosphere .Any warming is overall good . The notion that humans can
ensure no climate change by cutting CO2 is an absolute lie yet that is what the promoters of the fraud are pushing .
Learn to think for yourself and ditch handlers before they use you further and discard you .
“Peoplekind” can and does influence local climate. It’s known as the urban heat island effect. It is local weather over a long period of time and it is consistent. Temperature readings downtown can exceed peripheral rural temperature readings by ten Fahrenheit degrees. Guess where global warming believers live. Cities! Who suffers the most during blizzards? Cities! They have nowhere to put the white stuff. Rural folk are the last people to look to governments for relief. We know that there’s nothing anyone can do about it. We’re suspicious of politicians who say that their policies will make a difference.
Fighting climate change is really double-speak for carbon taxes. The tax on everything.
The young have a good reason to be angry but they have been duped into
chasing a shiny object while governments load them up with $trillions in more debt every year . Federal or national governments no longer even put up a pretense of balancing budgets let alone paying off debt . Why do we suddenly have governments advocating negative interest rates ? It’s because they can no longer even pay the interest of debts they sold out their citizens to incur .
Kids be grateful if it warms because a lot of you are going to be deciding whether you eat or heat . Global cooing kills way more people , plants and animals .
Kids, the brain washing you are being subjected to is designed to make you good communists . Notice there are no climate protesters in China the biggest polluter on the planet . It’s simple there , no one wants a bullet or to be sent to reprogramming school .
Kids the truth is you are being robbed of your freedom and your money every day . Pick the right fight .
May I add to Amber’s sage advice to youngsters? There’s something very important to society, it’s the concept of fiat currency. Responsible people respect it.
Anarchists are out to blow it up.
