Man-made climate change is too infinitesimal to affect the planet’s trajectory, but it has provoked a rapid change in federal policies with the new Biden administration.
Yet, the public did not vote for these changes, and one prominent, familiar administration official admitted they would not solve climate change, regardless.
President Biden is in the midst of imposing a radical climate change agenda, and the dominant wing of his Party, as voiced by Rep. A. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders, pronounced themselves pleased thus far.
What is not to like for such people who are climate obsessed and socialistic?
President Biden’s executive orders on climate thus far include canceling the Keystone XL pipeline project and the 11,000 mostly union jobs with it; rejoining the pointless Paris Climate Accord; and imposing a moratorium on oil and gas extraction on federal lands, which will destroy more jobs and communities.
Last week, when the Biden administration announced its domestic energy moratorium, the president’s top domestic climate czar, Gina McCarthy, claimed, “climate change is the most significant public health challenge of our time.”
This is a brazen falsehood, especially in the midst of the deadliest pandemic to hit the U.S. in a century. Coronavirus is the biggest threat to public health; climate change is not close.
If the planet warmed by less than one degree in the last four decades, or in the last 130 years, according to the World Health Organization, such is not a public health crisis today, even if you wrongly believe hurricane deaths are global warming-related.
Politicians are prone to embellish and fabricate. Ms. McCarthy’s example is insidious since it is done in the service of imposing policies that will harm people’s economic lives without mitigating global warming.
We know this from science and because the new special envoy for climate change, John Kerry, spoke after Ms. McCarthy and stumbled on the truth by inadvertently refuting the Biden climate agenda.
The Paris Accord is “not enough,” Mr. Kerry said. “Not when almost 90 percent of all the planet’s global emissions come from outside U.S. borders. We could go to zero tomorrow and the problem isn’t solved.” Talk about a wet blanket.
Mr. Kerry went on to say that coal miners who lose their jobs from the administration’s policies could instead learn to “make solar panels,” as though their skillset was seamlessly transferrable and such jobs were available.
This from a man who married a super-wealthy widow, relocated his fossil-fuel-powered yacht to another state to avoid taxes, opposed windmills visible from his summer home on Nantucket Island and owns a jet.
Talk about obtuse. (Note: Mr. Kerry since downsized from his $17 million home on Nantucket to a $12 million, 18-acre home on Martha’s Vineyard; and he justified his private jet travel based on self-importance.)
CFACT has long warned of the Biden-Harris climate agenda, but Americans can be forgiven for being surprised at the abruptness and severity of such policies.
As the presidential campaign took shape in 2019, Mr. Biden released his version of the Green New Deal and decorated his website accordingly in order to stay current with all the other candidates who did the same.
Yet, when Americans were paying the most attention, that is, during the presidential debates last fall, Mr. Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, downplayed or dismissed the Green extremism that is now on full display just hours and days into their administration.
With tens of millions of Americans watching the first presidential debate, Mr. Biden said, “I don’t support the Green New Deal.”
For most people, that’s the only thing they heard. Joe Biden understood that extreme climate policies are not publicly supported, and he downplayed the issue at the height of the campaign when the public was engaged, though he slipped at the end of the second debate about ending the oil industry.
Today’s precipitous, job-killing executive orders on climate reveal his insincerity during the debates.
Mr. Biden’s climate policies also are unsettling to some Democratic members of Congress. For example, four members from Texas urged the president to rescind his moratorium on energy leases.
“[T]his recent Executive Order will hurt an already suffering community,” said Representative Vicente Gonzalez.
As new climate policies take hold, already increasing energy prices will be exacerbated. Notice the gas pump lately? Looking ahead, the U.S. Energy Information Administration projects higher natural gas prices this year and in 2022.
Joe Biden is doing on climate what his Party elders and billionaire and corporate climate donors want.
The rest of America will just have to eat its climate spinach (except spinach is good for you) even though most people did not vote for it and, as John Kerry admitted, “the problem isn’t solved” if the nation attained the impossible with zero carbon emissions.

Without a carbon budget and without a global climate action plan, all we have here is just climate heroism. Climate change is a global issue that needs a global response with a global carbon budget. Everything else is just climate show business. Pls see

To be fair, Biden may not have been entirely happy with the Green New Deal.

Exactly. Further to that, fossil fuels – coal, oil, and gas are the ONLY green energy. Because they recycle the basic molecular ingredient of life on earth, CO2, from their natural storage in the earth (sometimes even spilling out to its surface). Because CO2, through photosynthesis, is the basic ingredient of life on earth. The green pigmented enzyme chlorophyll is responsible for the environment we all value and call “Green”. (sunlight plus CO2 plus H20, helped by green chlorophyll, gives sugar based life’s energy and every bit of the atmospheric oxygen on earth, and is the source of every carbon element that makes us the carbon-based lifeforms all life is today). Without CO2 all life dies. And CO2 has been declining naturally from levels ten to twenty times those of today to today’s starvation level lows for 600 million years. A little more CO2 has been a Godsend. Thank you fossil fuels! For the best thing to happen to the environment in twelve million years!
Is it even clear what part of the CO2 increase is from fossil fuels? With the gradual warming since the Little Ice Age, the ocean can’t keep as much CO2 in solution, and that alone may contribute most of the small increase.
