Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told fans on a live stream Tuesday that if climate change isn’t stopped, glaciers could melt and expose humans to diseases tens of thousands of years old.
“There are a lot of diseases that are frozen in some of these glaciers that scientists fear that there is a potential that a lot of diseases could escape these melted glaciers,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Instagram Live.
“Things that were frozen for thousands of years, and that they’re going to get into our water, and that humans could contract them, and they’re going to be diseases that are thousands of years old that have vectors that we are not prepared for, that we have never seen,” she said, continuing: “Um…and so that’s a concern…Even if there are no diseases frozen at all in these glaciers, you have diseases that are spread by mosquitoes, and now mosquitoes are starting to fly further north that carry diseases like malaria, and a whole slew of other things.”

The freshman congresswoman has made climate change one of her key issues. Early this year, she released her “Green New Deal” plan, which calls for a radical restructuring of the United States economy and seeks to eliminate the use of cars with internal combustion engines.
Her plan was widely mocked by many on the right, but even some Democrats distanced themselves from the plan, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who referred to the plan as the “Green Dream.”
The criticism led Ocasio-Cortez to lash out and declare herself the “boss.”
“So people are like, ‘Oh, it’s unrealistic. Oh, it’s vague. Oh, it doesn’t address this little minute thing.’ And I’m like, ‘You try. You do it. ‘Cuz you’re not. ‘Cuz you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss.’ How ’bout that?’” she said in February.
Ocasio-Cortez declares “I’m the Boss… How ’bout that!” while claiming that no one else has tried to come up with climate change policy before the Green New Deal.

Glaciers have been melting for a long time. If diseases are going to emerge from the melting ice, why hasn’t this happened already? The answers are it isn’t going to happen. Her statement is just another excuse to push an impossible agenda.
One of my degrees is in medical microbiology. Very few pathogens can remain virulent over a long period of time. Of those that can, they usually require dry conditions; something you won’t find in a glacier before or after the water was ice.

I can see AOC floating along on some billionaires 200 foot diesel guzzling yacht laughing her face off over how stupid the MSM were during her 15 minutes . Basically, the ENTIRE way energy and the environment are portrayed by the bulk of U.S mainstream media is completely WRONG. Yes, the propaganda has been masterful by the environmental activists that have managed to tie fossil fuels to the “climate crisis.” NOTHING about oil & gas, coal or even nuclear (seemingly) has ANY redeeming qualities or benefits. Brilliant, riveting & colorful THEATER..but little basis in the reality of energy imperatives.
Let’s pretend. Think of the old movie classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Instead of the George Bailey in the film, imagine an enviro-activist who falls asleep wishing for a fossil fuel free world and then wakes up and get’s his/her wish…That ALL fossil fuels are righteously KEPT in the GROUND! So, the world you wake up in the U.S (then) has only ONE fundamental question to be answered: “What CLEAN, SUSTAINABLE & SCALABLE alternative do you need to REPLACE 95% of our transportation fuel & industrial heat and 65% of our electricity?” The world you wake up in is demonstrably POORER and not the UTOPIA you have envisioned! You get the “plot twist” because you don’t understand that the energy TRANSITION is really about PHYSICS and basically, you are NOT asking the right questions!
Having an intelligent, constructive, well informed energy debate is ESSENTIAL to our country’s continued prosperity, well being & national security. Vilification of energy PROVIDERS solves nothing. The citizenry needs to start demanding that political leaders start EDUCATING themselves on the relevant issues. This is to important to continue to SCREW UP…
