Climate activist groups are putting up $55 million in support of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. [emphasis, links added]
The League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund and Climate Power Action are teaming up with the Future Forward PAC to fund the ad campaign, The Hill newspaper reports.
The campaign targets the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
It will also target Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, which encompasses Omaha and has separate electoral votes from the rest of the state.
The ads praise Harris for her support of “green energy,” which the ads claim will create jobs.
Another ad claims Harris will “triple America’s clean energy product,” which the ad says will lower electricity prices.
Wind and solar are cheap when they are producing electricity, but since they randomly shut off, they require expensive overbuilding of wind and solar farms, transmission lines, and storage systems, making them the most expensive of all energy sources.
Harris has tried to distance herself from her previous [opposition to] fracking, and she’s been largely silent on her positions on energy.
Critics, however, argue that she would pursue an even more aggressive climate agenda than President Joe Biden.
