Completely Ignore the Costs, Focuses only on Political Gain:
“A decade or two ago,” says Jason Furman, a former chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, “Democrats were divided on immigration. Now everyone agrees and is passionate and thinks very little about any potential downsides.”
Eagerness to Sell-Out America and Americans for Political Gain:
A larger explanation is political. Between 2008 and 2016, Democrats became more and more confident that the country’s growing Latino population gave the party an electoral edge. To win the presidency, Democrats convinced themselves, they didn’t need to reassure white people skeptical of immigration so long as they turned out their Latino base. “The fastest-growing sector of the American electorate stampeded toward the Democrats this November,” Salon declared after Obama’s 2008 win. “If that pattern continues, the GOP is doomed to 40 years of wandering in a desert.”
Claim Consensus on an Issue Where One Doesn’t Exist:
Progressive commentators routinely claim that there’s a near-consensus among economists on immigration’s benefits. There isn’t.

This combination of Latino and corporate activism made it perilous for Democrats to discuss immigration’s costs, as Bernie Sanders learned the hard way…ThinkProgress published a blog post titled “Why Immigration Is the Hole in Bernie Sanders’ Progressive Agenda.” The senator, it argued, was supporting “the idea that immigrants coming to the U.S. are taking jobs and hurting the economy, a theory that has been proven incorrect.” Sanders stopped emphasizing immigration’s costs. By January 2016, FWD.us’s policy director noted with satisfaction that he had “evolved on this issue.”
Simply Lie About Issues:
But has the claim that “immigrants coming to the U.S. are taking jobs” actually been proved “incorrect”? A decade ago, liberals weren’t so sure. In 2006, Krugman wrote that America was experiencing “large increases in the number of low-skill workers relative to other inputs into production, so it’s inevitable that this means a fall in wages.”
Researchers are Funded by Biased Liberal Sources:
Many of the immigration scholars regularly cited in the press have worked for, or received funding from, pro-immigration businesses and associations. Consider, for instance, Giovanni Peri, an economist at UC Davis whose name pops up a lot in liberal commentary on the virtues of immigration. A 2015 New York Times Magazine essay titled “Debunking the Myth of the Job-Stealing Immigrant” declared that Peri, whom it called the “leading scholar” on how nations respond to immigration, had “shown that immigrants tend to complement—rather than compete against—the existing work force.” Peri is indeed a respected scholar. But Microsoft has funded some of his research into high-skilled immigration. And New American Economy paid to help him turn his research into a 2014 policy paper decrying limitations on the H-1B visa program.

The problem is that, although economists differ about the extent of the damage, immigration hurts the Americans with whom immigrants compete. And since more than a quarter of America’s recent immigrants lack even a high-school diploma or its equivalent, immigration particularly hurts the least-educated native workers, the very people who are already struggling the most.

It exposes just how unconcerned Liberals are with the corruption of science, dividing America and undermining her interests, values, and culture. Promoting assimilation need not mean expecting immigrants to abandon their culture. But it does mean breaking down the barriers that segregate them from the native-born. And it means celebrating America’s diversity less, and its unity more.

I was being kind of smarty when I made this response. Though it definitely describes my heritage, there is a much better response.
We live in a universe where the spoils go to the victor. If I designed the universe it wouldn’t be this way, but I didn’t, so the spoils go to the victor is the way it has always been and will always be. The Europeans won the conflict and took the country. That is in the past.
Now we are in a second conflict. We need to learn from the first. One of my favorite bumper stickers is, “Ask An American Indian About The Consequences Of Unrestricted Immigration.”
At least my stone age ancestors had will to fight and die for their land. This puts them several magnitudes above those who simply want to give what we have away.
I do care about justice. However, the justice I care about is that someone doesn’t degrade what I have with a huge increase in population. At any give time there are tens of millions living in dire situations. We can’t damage this nation by taking them in. In addition, much immigration is by those who fine where they are. All H1-b immigrants are college graduates in their own country.
What really makes me angry is immigrants have done nothing to make this nation what it is, but come and take what others have worked so hard to make. My last white ancestors to immigrate arrived before there was much industry, some before there was any industry. My family and others worked very hard to make this nation. This included farming, logging, civil engineers, and carpentry. My great grandfather was railroad engineer who died when the engine exploded. My father was shot down in World War II. He went on to design early components of the GPS technology, and portions of the space telescope and space shuttle. I have worked on every large Boeing commercial plane currently flying as well as the B1 bomber and YF-22 fighter. After our family has done so much my youngest son can’t find an engineering job after graduating because so my H1-b immigrants have been let in.

The United States has to quit being the human garbage can of the world.
Unless you are a Native American, there was a point in time where immigration was beneficial. These immigrants were not given classis in English as a Second Language or tutoring. Now we have past the point where immigration is beneficial and it needs to be stopped.
For those who believe in the man made climate change fraud, immigration is a big mistake. It takes people who almost exclusively come from nations that emit less person the US, and brings them here were they adopt our life style.
From any environmental perspective, immigration is wrong. The expanded population requires more housing which destroys farm land and forests. It requires more of many other resources that are hard on the environment.
Other resources are required for immigrants and it is a crime that native born Americans must pay taxes to support them. One is the cost of English as a second language program. My wife is a tutor paid by school districts and essentially all of her students are immigrants or children of immigrants. That expense shouldn’t exist because the immigrants shouldn’t be here.
Contrary to liberal claims immigration has a huge negative impact on the job market. During the Obama administration the number of new jobs created was nearly equal to the number of new immigrants who became employed. That meant no new jobs for Americans.
This has hit our home. Despite extensive experience I was unemployed for an extended period of time due to all of the high tech H1b immigrants. Where my son lives in Bothell Washington there are many thousands of them. My youngest son still can’t find a job after getting his mechanical engineering degree.
Despite these overwhelming reasons, liberals believe the best interests of foreigners living in other countries who want to come here is more important than what is best for Americans.

I see immigration like any population growth. If immigration is bad for the enviroment because of population growth then it’s also bad to have children or to reduce mortality. And what do you mean by being “hard on the enviroment”. What evidence you have to support this? How much damage immigrants actually do to enviroment?

Bigger than the crime of Europeans coming to America and robbing the land from native Americans? If you care about justice then you shouldn’t be in the America in the first place. You should leave and give the land back to native Americans. Besides I also would like to point out it’s very simplistic to view immigrants as people who just take resources others make. People forget that immigrants also contribute by doing jobs, starting businesses, paying taxes. World is not a zero sum game where someone’s gain has to come at someone elses expense. Again immigrants are like any other population growth.
I also would like to point out that if you care about justice then you should welcome immigrants not reject them. Think about it. Imagine that you are poor and and hungry and fleeing from persecution or bad life. But you have something that people in another country want. You plan to sell it so you can afford to eat and survive to another day. You travel to this country but at the border armed men turn you away. Then you die of starvation. It’s not the same thing as seeing a beggar on the street and refusing to give him a dollar. He is not worse or better off. It’s the same thing as beating the beggar or chasing him away. Sure, it’s not your fault that he is hungry but you actively hurt him by your actions. That is why I find it weird that you claim to care about crime and justice. In reality you are just selfish and I think you just need to admit it instead of claiming the moral high ground like people always like to do.

How quickly people forget that Americans are basically foreigners living on someone elses land. US is a land of immigrants. Without immigration US wouldn’t even exist. Steve Jobs for example was a son of a Syrian immigrant just like many other American great people. Bill Gates has immigrant blood too. His ancestry includes English, German, Irish, and Scots-Irish.
I noticed that despite conservatives saying that liberals are “out of ther mind”, “care more about feelings than reason and logic”, “are being paid off by big XXX”, “are basically idiots”, conservatives themselves fall trap to these things too. Of course the opponent is always being paid shill (ad hominem attack and doesn’t have anything to do with the argument), consensus is not science and is useless (unless it supports your position). The opponent is always the stupid, ignorant and malevolent and your own side is uniquely enlightened and wise. That is the state of debate in 2017.
I’m a climate skeptic, well any skeptic by default, but many of the skeptic sites just make the same mistakes as alarmist sites. They are full of ad hominem attacks. Big claims without evidence. Ideological and religious behaviour (like defending Trump no matter what he does just because he is a climate skeptic). Tribal behaviour (us vs them).
Climate change is a very serious topic whether or not it’s true or not, but people can’t discuss it like adults. Whole thing has been corrupted by politics and ideology from both sides. This means that it’s very difficult to get proper answers for an outsider like me. It’s really sad in my opinion.
