After the Green New Deal is implemented, and regular people can no longer afford to fly, can we all look forward to crossing oceans on carbon fiber composite racing yachts sponsored by the royal family of Monaco?
Climate child activist Greta Thunberg announced that she will not fly in planes, and so is traveling from Europe to a UN climate conference in New York on an elite racing yacht.
Greta achieved celebrity by boycotting school and speaking at climate events “on behalf of Climate Justice Now,” a radical climate pressure group that advocates world Socialism.
Here’s Greta’s speech last fall to the UN Climate Conference in Katowice Poland. CFACT was there!
“We need to keep the fossil fuels in the ground,” she said, “and we need to focus on equity, and the solutions within the system are so impossible to find, that maybe we should change the system itself… We have come here to let you know that change is coming whether you like it or not. The real power belongs to the people.”
The “system” Greta’s handlers want to overthrow is western democracy and its pesky individual and economic freedom.
The replacement they have in mind is centrally planned Socialism. Using children to put a happy face on it still leads to Venezuela for all of us — or worse.
Malizia II does to not have a diesel auxiliary engine, as other boats in its class do. It drags turbines through the water and uses solar to recharge batteries. This does not make it “Green.”
Malizia II, like the rest of the yachts in the Imoca 60 class, is constructed from high-tech carbon fiber composites to make it ultra-light and fast. It is the ultimate plaything of the wealthy elite.
These boats are made of hydrocarbons, not to mention all the energy it took to make them.
Carbon fiber composites are primarily made from propane and petroleum. This boat was pumped out of the ground.
Watch workers transform petrochemicals into an Imoca 60 class racing yacht.
The Monaco Yacht Club is among the sponsors paying for the trip. They removed all the corporate sponsor logos from the yacht so as not to be associated with the capitalist prosperity that built it.
Ending air travel is nihilism. Going back to sailing to cross oceans is a 19th-century solution that cannot meet 21st-century travel needs.
This makes no economic, logistical, or ecological sense. Maybe Greta Thunberg should have stayed in school a while longer.

This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. Sailing as a means of crossing oceans is not practical, as is the case with most of the green agenda. If sailing were to be used it wouldn’t be via a multimillion dollar racing yacht, but ships closer to the in 19th century where crossing to America or Canada took up to 12 weeks. One estimate is that 84,109 people fly between Europe and the US per day.
I think what she’s saying is spoon-fed to her by climate activists…
There is no scientific evidence that human activity causes climate change. It has been admitted numerous times that the purpose of the scam is to redistribute wealth not mitigate any perceived change in climate. Using naivate of young people shows how low the scum can go. Isn’t it strange that the people who’ve benefitted most want to take us back to the Stone Age?

All involved, beginning with her parents, should be charged with child abuse.
This outright hypocricy of it all like protesting against logging in a tree with Plywood and 2×4 platforms or arriving at some big Earth Day event in a private jet being chaufred there in a gas guzzling Limo and getting your electricity from Bird and Bat maiming Wind Turbines or Bird Burning Solar Power Plants while you lecture us on how to live as one with the earth GO BLOW IT OUT YOUR NOSE
OK, the energy used for making the boat might be an argument, but that it is made of carbon is hardly an argument that makes sense. The thing that matters (how much can be discussed) is how much CO2 (and methane etc.) is released to the atmosphere, and the carbon that is bound in the boat does not go to the atmosphere. I doubt boats are such a great carbon sink that building more boats will be presented as a solution in a similar way like growing trees. But still, what is controversial about fossile fuels is burning them for getting energy, not using them as building materials.
CO2 is NOT the thing that matters. With a concentration of only 0,04% or 400 ppm of which 12 ppm is of human origin, it can hardly have any influence at all. Except as plant food for greening the planet to grow food and oxygen (photosynthesis) for humans and animals.
John, above me, is correct. Adrian, you had better do your homework.

Madness should never be confused with wisdom. The confusion of a girl with respect to the weather, should not be admired, much less taken into account, to make decisions capable of seriously jeopardizing the immediate future of humanity.
