I didn’t know World War III had begun. I’m not talking about Syria, Russia, or Iran either. I guess we’ve missed this news bulletin, partially because it’s emanating from the environmental Left. Apparently, climate change is World War III. And because they’re usual means to spreading a narrative has failed miserably—they’re trying to frame the fight against global warming as a war.
The Washington Examiner has more:
“World War III is well and truly underway,” said Bill McKibben, founder of the climate activist group 350.org. “And we are losing.”
“We’re used to war as metaphor: the war on poverty, the war on drugs, the war on cancer,” he said in an op-ed published in this week’s New Republic magazine. “But this is no metaphor. By most of the ways we measure wars, climate change is the real deal: Carbon and methane are seizing physical territory, sowing havoc and panic, racking up casualties and even destabilizing governments.”

McKibben also has been piling increased pressure on Republicans in Senate races to resist Trump or face disaster in November.
On Thursday, 350.org activists wearing Trump masks ran alongside Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., who is in a tough re-election battle against the state’s Democratic goveror, at a 5K road race in Manchester to confront her support for the Republican presidential nominee. “By supporting Trump, she’s supporting racism, climate denial and violence. Voters need to reject Trump and reject Ayotte,” the group’s state director said.
First, in 2012, the UK meteorological office pointed out that global temperatures have remained constant for the past 16 years. Last year, Marc Marano of Climate Depot noted that there’s been no global warming for the past 18 years.
Second, there’s a bit of misdirected hostility here towards Ayotte. She’s for the Obama administration’s disastrous Clean Power Plan that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 30 percent from 2005 levels by torpedoing local economies, mainly those in coal-producing states. Over half the states have filed a lawsuit over the implementation of the blueprint for the policy. So, while Ayotte might be pegged to Trump, which isn’t a bonus, it should be wise for 350 to have as many friends as they can, given that no one really cares about global warming. But you won’t see me warning them not to fall into the meat grinder.
