In an effort to highlight its environmental platform, the Democratic National Committee is no longer accepting campaign contributions from fossil fuel companies.
Executive members of the Democratic National Committee voted to ban all contributions from corporate political action committees related to the oil, gas and coal industries, the Huffington Post first reported Tuesday.
The resolution was originally proposed by Christine Pelosi, a member of the DNC and daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
“Today we can act — in harmony with the millions of Americans demanding that we clean up our planet and our politics and join the hundreds of individual Democratic political candidates for office across the country who have pledged not to take money from the fossil fuel industry,” Christine Pelosi wrote in a Medium post published on Sunday.
More anti-fossil fuel resolutions might be on the horizon. The DNC is also considering a second resolution to ban contributions over $200 from any individual who works in the fossil fuel sector. Members are expected to vote on the proposal during their Chicago board meeting in August.
“Fossil fuel corporations are drowning our democracy in a tidal wave of dark oily money; they have deceived the public about the impacts of climate change, fought the growth of clean renewable energy, and corrupted our political system,” a portion of the resolution states.
It’s not immediately clear how the new rule will affect the Democratic Party. Fossil fuel companies, having long favored Republican candidates, already do not donate much to Democratic candidates — comparatively speaking.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the DNC received $2.6 million from mining firms and fossil fuel producers during the 2016 election. This figure that pales in comparison to the $56.1 million in contributions the real estate and finance industries gave to Democrats during the same election cycle.

The crisis, “man-made global warming” and the solution, “renewable energy”, are both political contrivances. Criminally misleading and meant only to create chaotic disruption on a global scale.
Electrical energy derived from wind and solar is not the panacea the left seeks. And renewable energy, like “Climate Change” is based solely on lies. After years of promoting deceptive and socially disruptive lies we are yet to observe any of the Left’s purported scientific claims of catastrophic global consequences of global cooling or global warming. The Left’s “science” is the science of lies. “Renewable energy” is not reliable, efficient, and convenient and would amount to nothing more than another government run social program.
Promotion of substantive electrical energy derived from wind and solar by 2040 or 2050 or anytime in the next century to achieve energy independence is a lie. As we are now beginning to see, the infrastructure required for such and endeavor would require destroying the natural evolutionary moment we have arrived at after millions of years which makes our very existence on this planet possible. Solar panels would replace trees, wind turbines would command the heights and the earth necessarily ravaged to construct the massive electrical infrastructure and storage batteries to support the scheme. Population reduction would be a necessary part of the renewable energy solution as arable land is lost.
The proposed social and financial costs of the grand deception of “the climate change solution” would result in ecological devastation and a DEAD end for humanity.
This one of those “sound good” actions. As has already been pointed out, there is no real meaning. The Democrats are really into the “sound good.” Consider the Paris Treaty.

They are not giving up anything. It’s a sham, why should energy companies donate to the democrats who plan to destroy their business if they gain power?
That was my thought too. Virtue signalling, that is all. But they are already sucking big time in getting any donations so why give up any donations they can get. Guess the Democrat Party is the Stupid Party after all.
