The funding includes $575 million to reinforce coastal infrastructure and $67 million to protect California’s power grid from weather events.
“The funding will support innovative coastal resilience and adaptation solutions, such as building natural infrastructure, planning and preparing for community-led relocation, and protecting public access to coastal natural resources, [which] protect communities and ecosystems from sea level rise, tidal flooding, hurricanes, storm surge, among other severe climate impacts,” the Biden administration said in a public statement.
Biden has maintained climate change as a top priority throughout his administration. Monday’s move comes just months after the U.S. pledged another $1 billion donation to the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund.
Biden’s Monday climate event comes just before a series of 2024 campaign fundraising events the president also has scheduled in California.
Biden will meet with tech billionaires and climate donors across the state this week in his largest fundraising push since announcing his 2024 re-election campaign.

The $600 million sounds like another effort to funnel money to supporters and favorites. Communities and ecosystems do not need additional protection from sea level rise, tidal flooding, hurricanes, and storm surge. These exist but are not increasing.
It sounds like Biden is going to make climate change a big part of his campaign in 2024. The impact on the average family of Biden’s policies to date is hundreds of dollars a year, where as most are only willing to spend less than $10 a month on climate change. Republicans were not smart enough to take advantage of this in 2020. I hope they do in 2024. They will need a strong margin to over come the election fraud which is certain to happen.
Why don’t Biden flap his arms and fly to the Moon this imbecille is just about ready to self destruct with his irresponsible moves
I’d like to see a MSM reporter ask Jimmy Carter how it feels to lose the title as “Worst President Ever” .
I think Obama is a better candidate for the “Worst President Ever” up to this point. Obama was the first president in a very long time to executive orders on a large scale as a substitute for legislation he was unable to get through Congress.
