Jeff Masters named his website (Weather Underground) after Bill Ayers’ 1960’s terrorist group, which tried to bomb US Military personnel. Now he is promoting fake news from fake hurricane scientist Kerry Emanuel, who declared Harvey’s rains to be a one in a 2,000-year event.
Had Masters talked to his own climate historian, Christopher Burt, he would have known that Texas has had much larger rainfalls in the past and that Texas holds world rainfall records.

The clown Masters cited as the “world’s leading hurricane expert” (Kerry Emanuel) has been wrong with every prediction he ever made.

At the 2017 CU World Affairs Conference, Kerry Emanuel showed this graph of fake climate model hurricane intensity forecasts out to the year 2100.
I asked Emanuel about his 2005 forecast that major hurricanes would increase, and subsequent record low number of major hurricanes since 2005. He agreed that it has been very low, but said: “(he) was talking about the whole world, not just the US or the Atlantic.”
After the event was over, I asked him about reports that Southern Hemisphere cyclones have been declining for 20 years and are at a record low. He responded with “some models predicted that.” In other words, he has no idea what he is talking about and isn’t honest enough to admit it.
Ironically, Jeff Masters recognized Bill Gray as being an actual hurricane expert.

Emanuel isn’t worthy to shine Bill Gray’s shoes, and his claim that Harvey was a one in a 2,000-year event is based on the same brainless logic as claiming that winning the lottery is a one in a million year event. The odds of any individual household winning are very small, but the odds of some household winning are quite high.
Jeff Masters is just one more clown parroting fake climate news.
