The climate change “emergency” is fake news. Many will roll their eyes in exasperation at the conspiratorial bombastry of yet another “denier”. But for years I have been a plastic recycling, polar bear cooing middle-grounder.
In fact, Aristotle would probably turn in his grave at the logical fallaciousness of my long-held presumption that the truth must lie somewhere between those two mutually loathing opposites – Skepticism and Armageddon.
But as the doom-mongering acquires the rubber-stamped smell of institutionalized illness, it is impossible to ignore that the “woke” are the new “slept” – too deep in their sugar coma of confected hysteria to realize they are being duped by disinformation.
Before I explain why the climate “emergency” is the most electrifyingly effective propaganda exercise of the 21st century, two clarifications.
I have no fight to pick with glaring evidential realities: surface records clearly show the planet is getting warmer.
Nor do I have a culture war-bloodied ax to grind with the fundamental chemistry: carbon dioxide indisputably contributes to the greenhouse effect.
But I do take issue with how the mainstream debate has become an insult to both the public’s intelligence and basic science.
This was clearer than ever yesterday, as bureaucratic catastrophists kicked up dystopian dust-clouds on their way into the UN Madrid climate change summit.
As Greta Thunberg arrived by yacht (after her British skipper likely clocked up 3 tonnes of carbon emissions flying to the US to pick her up), UN Secretary-General António Guterres rumbled that, over the horizon, he could see “the point of no return”.
Delegates waved the UN’s latest Emissions Gap Report as if it were both a millenarian death oracle and a methodologically indisputable text; in it, the recommendation to cut emissions by at least 7.6 percent per year for the next decade.
One can’t help but feel that we have heard such curiously precise warnings before. Last year the UN warned that we had just 12 years to save the planet.
Scientists have since revised this to approximately 18 months. Or perhaps it is already too late. The experts don’t seem quite sure.
Indeed, the distinction between present and future seems to be fading to discardable subtlety.
Take the study which has gone viral in recent days for claiming that parts of the world have either already reached – or are inching towards –“tipping point”, whereby the planet becomes caught in destructive feedback loops.
Are we already doomed, or nearly doomed, or nearly already doomed? More is the mystery.
Claims such as these are projections, but they are routinely presented to the public as unquestionable facts. This effectively reduces them to fake news.
Even more so, given that the accuracy of the climate modeling upon which these figures and scenarios rely is contested, and the climate does not change in a straight line.
To take one example, the UN’s international climate change body, the IPCC, said in 2007 that temperatures had risen by 0.2C per decade between 1990-2005 and used that figure for its 20-year projection.
Inconveniently, warming turned out to have been just 0.05C per decade over the 15 years to 2012.
The IPCC acknowledges the uncertainty of the computations it champions; hence the disclaimer squirreled away on its website stating that it does not guarantee the accuracy of the information it contains. A caveat lost in translation at the resplendently funereal press conferences.
This post-truth scam is having a chilling effect on science. Experts are locked in a race to the bottom to make detailed and disastrous premonitions.
And despite the fact that disciplined debate is the motor of scientific discovery, eco-extremists are shutting down discussions that dissent from the Apocalypse narrative.

None of these climate doomsayers want to talk real science. They have too much at stake; many of them basing their entire reputation (and funding) on the hope, er, prediction that the world will fry to a cinder UNLESS YOU DO EXACTLY AS THEY SAY!
I think anyone who went to school in the 1970’s has heard these doomsday scenario’s before; and always by the same type of “scientists” or “expert”. And they have all been wrong. 100% of the time. This is no different. Not a single prediction these doomsayers has made has come true; and yet people still give them credence. It is a giant scam. Here is some basic science that you need to know.
CO2 is NOT A POLLUTANT. It is an essential nutrient for plants; without which we really would be doomed. In fact, it is just a trace element. We need more of it, not less.
The main GREENHOUSE gas, is water vapour, not CO2. Rising levels of CO2 has never correlated with and increase in temperature. In fact, the reverse is true. Temperature has always increased well before the level of CO2 has increased.
The climate control device that everyone seems to forget, is that giant ball of burning hydrogen in the sky. We call it a SUN. It’s really really hot.
If you were to select two people and assign them the same task; write the name of every species you can find, and sent one to the Antarctica, and one to the Amazon rain forest, who do you think would be done first? The guy in the Antarctic would be back in two weeks. You would never again hear from the guy in the Amazon because it would take him several lifetimes just to make a dent in the number of species to be found there. Why?
Simple…living things like heat, moisture, and CO2. Cold is the enemy of life, warmth is essential for life.
We are being lied to repeatedly. Journalists have bought into this scam because it makes a good story; and they don’t really understand any of it anyway. Real scientists who have been pointing out the obvious have been censored, fired, or belittled and had their reputations ruined. Liars and frauds, like M. Mann, are celebrated for their pseudo-science; even though they have still been wrong.
The people running this charade are aware that everything I wrote above is true; but they will never admit it. No one wants to point out that the kind does indeed have no clothes. That is why they are getting more and more desperate in their predictions. They need an escape hatch. They don’t care of the process, they just want to save their reputations and maintain control. That is why Kyoto, Coppenhagen, Paris are so important to them. They all know that nothing will come of it, but at least they can point to a point 12 years from now after the carbon tax saves all of our lives and they can say, “See….you listened to us and we saved the planet” Even though CO2 has little if any impact on temperature. We know the real greenhouse gas is Water vapour….but you can’t tax that right?
Calling you on your “two points:”
1. Surface records do not show that the world is getting warmer. Over the past two decades, the global temperature records indicates a slight tendency toward cooling, but there really is not accurate average world temperature anyway.
2. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, but only to a point, but no longer relevant under prevaling condition on earth. While CO2 helps with atmospheric heat retention, it’s ability to trap heat further diminishes as it reaches the maximum frequency aborption threshold, where it presently stands. As such, with all other factors of climate held static, CO2 concentrations could triple or more and it will not influence the planetary greenhouse.
0.2°C per decade – that’s really serious – in 50000 years (a mere tick of the clock geologically speaking)the earth will be a molten blob of iron.
If you are stupid enough to be alarmed by linear projections in a non-linear chaotic system based on a snapshot excluding exculpatory history – and not realize you are being conned – then you deserve what you get.
I have no intention of living a life Hobbs described as “nasty, brutish and short” to satisfy what is little more than a Green fetish substitute for original sin.
