The Global Warming Policy Foundation has just published its annual review of UK weather. Once again, author Paul Homewood finds little to be alarmed about. [emphasis, links added]
Using official data from the Met Office and other sources, the paper examines UK climate trends and assesses the truth of claims that UK weather is becoming ‘more extreme’. [See 2022’s UK State Of The Weather]
Findings include:
• The frequency of days with extreme temperatures has been in decline since the 1970s, as more hot days have been offset by fewer cold ones.
• While winters have become slightly wetter, there has been little change in rainfall trends for the other seasons. In particular, summers are not getting drier, as projections have suggested.
• Wind storms have been declining in frequency and intensity since the 1990s.
In the words of author, Paul Homewood:
“Despite widespread claims to the contrary, our weather in the UK is not becoming more extreme. In fact, although slightly warmer on average, it has changed very little over the years.”
GWPF director, Dr Benny Peiser said:
“In light of frequent exaggeration and alarmism, it is vital that the public get a level-headed analysis of the UK climate. Too often public perceptions are a long way from what the underlying data shows.”

Obs UK weather is such a small proportion of global weather its relevance to Global cliamte change is unmeasurable. But why even bother when the UN IPCC makes it very clear in ALL their scientific reports that, apart from small and net beneficial warming, there has been no measurable extreme weather impacts attributable to AGW or anything else, since satellites began in 1979.
They again repeated this in the 2021 AR6 report. WG1, page 1856, Fig 1212.
Their political recommendations for policy makers are based on direct lies by the people who misrepresent the reported science in the UN political committee that write the recommendations. Which are designed to redistribute the World’s wealth to suit globalist agendas, not save the planet, nor raise the developing nations up to the level the 1st World has created. THey plan to reverse economic progress in developed 1st World countries.. They don’t want the Worlds population properous, free and fearless of their elites, they plan some dystopian one size fits all global economy where the elites control access to energy and food (on the bais its finite and they want to keep control of the most for themselves..
It would be better to trust the science we measure and leave the UN IPCC, ECHR, and abandon other treaties used to manipulate sovereign government policies to the detriment of their economic competitiveness and prosperity of their populations, to no useful end, except those of the people behind the UN Agendas..
Again, they have done this using overt and demonstrable lies about the climate, also regarding the amount of resources there really are if we look, as easily checked above, to achieve globalist aims at the expense of those nations populations. Even tried to shut down debate of a science that has proven nothing of what it claims in fact, so not a science settled by the usual methods of observation, but made up in guessed models, apart from a tiny 1.5deg change in space between the 6,000deg Sun and absolute -273 zero of space, 1.5 deg warmer than the coldest in 8,000 years, still colder than the warmer periods of the last 8,000 years when civilisations flourished.
