President Donald Trump jokingly suggested Saturday shrinking the press corps to a small number of Fox News hosts, so the administration could cut down its carbon footprint during flight travel.
Trump criticized the press for contributing to global warming during a Saturday night white-tie banquet called the Gridiron. One way to reduce carbon emissions contributing to climate change, he said, is to shrink the overall size of the press that follows Trump around.
“We’re going to reduce the carbon footprint when we travel by shrinking the press pool, so we only have room for Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, and Judge Jeanine,” said Trump, who laid bare most of his apparent pent-up frustrations regarding the media’s treatment of his administration thus far.
There were no cameras allowed at the banquet – one man “wearing the requisite Gridiron white tie stopped two of the 600 attendees from recording on their phone,” according to the White House pool report.
But many of Trump’s remarks leaked, all of which show the president wasting no time excoriating his detractors in the media. He even etched out some time to make fun of The New York Times for not owning their own building.
“I’m a New York icon. You’re a New York icon. And the only difference is I still own my buildings,” Trump said, apparently referring to the NYTimes’ decision in 2009 to sell a large portion of its enterprise to Mexican telecommunications billionaire Carlos Slim.
The NYTimes and other media outlets have continually bludgeoned Trump — who once suggested during the presidential election that climate change is a “hoax” — for not taking seriously the threat stemming from global warming.

While President Trump is at it reducing the circus that transit the globe to global warming conferences would be a step in the right direction .
Have to say though screwing with Canadian Aluminium imports
not a good idea . USA and Canadian trade is nearly balanced
so Canada isn’t the enemy . Quebec just has lots of low cost hydropower. Forcing Canadians to export that cheap aluminum elsewhere is going to bite the USA but hey it’s your party .
Greenpeace can greatly reduced their own carbon footprint keeping their ships in port and their wacko members who make total pests of themselves climbing up places like buildings and bridges to unfurle their stupid signs and banners or ruin the Nazca Plains with their idiotic message and the NRDC can Go Pound Sand
