President Biden is being urged to declare a climate emergency, which may happen as early as this week. If he does, the irony will be rich, as the 911 call should really be for the climate agenda.
The president hopes to take advantage of the ongoing, record-setting European heat wave and a string of wildfires, and an ongoing heat wave in the U.S. Midwest. [bold, links added]
While it is very hot in Europe and the Midwest, it is relatively cool elsewhere.
The unfortunate reality of Biden’s planned exploitation is that today’s average global temperature per the University of Maine is a mere 0.2C warmer than the average from 1979-2000.
It’s called “global warming,” and yet not much of that is occurring.
We also know that heat waves are not associated with carbon dioxide emissions. The frequency and intensity of heat waves have dramatically declined in the U.S. over the past 100 years despite ever-rising emissions, per the National Climate Assessment conducted by the Obama-Biden administration.
And although the media is trying to fan the flames of climate hysteria with images of Europe burning, the reality is that wildfires in Europe have been declining since the 1980s despite ever-increasing CO2 emissions.
And let’s not forget that despite lots of emissions over the years, June 2022 was cooler than June 2002 and there has been no global warming in seven years and 10 months.
But it gets worse for Joe Biden and his climate agenda.
Last week’s New York Times/Siena College poll reports that a mere one percent of voters prioritize climate.
Climate scored zero percent among Latinos, Republicans, and the 45-64 age group. This shouldn’t have been a surprise to the Times since a Democrat pollster told the paper last year that climate was an issue that only “weird, very liberal white” people care about.
All this is occurring against a backdrop where the Supreme Court has ruled that the EPA doesn’t have the authority to regulate greenhouse gases from coal plants, Sen. Joe Manchin has now twice pulled the plug on Biden’s Build Back better climate agenda, and the world is in the worst energy and inflation crises in 40 years.
If Joe Biden declares a climate emergency and acts upon it, he will only make things worse. [He didn’t this week but threatened he would if Congress didn’t pass legislation. Fat chance with Sen. Manchin acting as a bulwark. —CCD ed.]
Although presidential powers over emissions are extremely limited, this exercise would only send gas prices even higher.
President Biden could, for example, halt crude oil exports, or limit oil and gas drilling on federal lands.
Neither would make a difference to the climate – and neither would likely stand up in federal court. Both would cause oil prices to increase.
Biden may declare a climate emergency, but there is no reason for it, and there is nothing he could legally or beneficially accomplish by himself anyway.
The good news for Biden, if he cares to embrace it, is that the public doesn’t care about climate amid all our other ongoing problems.
Take the exit, Joe.

Biden want to be a Dictator in fact he already is a Dictator sneering his nose at the U.S. Constitution just like Clinton and Obama did and with the M.S. Media to cover up for them
I guess what I am suggesting (in actuality) is a good old fashioned FUNCTIONING DEMOCRACY. If you are authoritarian in nature, you FEAR that concept…
I think you may be misreading the 1% poll with the conclusion that Americans don’t care about climate. I’d submit that most Americans, like most humans, prioritize their concerns based on their NEEDS. At the moment, they are focused on inflation, recession, crime & border control which all can have a direct impact on their daily & future existence. Biden and the Democrats are CLEARLY misreading the electorate. That is what BLIND IDEOLOGY does for you. As far as climate, that is a much more distant, abstract concept to most. VERY FEW people are actually qualified to have an INFORMED opinion about climate and when you confuse POLITICAL science with physical science you can expect POOR policy results. Clearly, any executive order declaring a “Climate Emergency” that even remotely resembles an overreach will be overturned in the courts. The ONE GOOD THING that may fall out of this is some form of intelligent scientific debate as to what evidence supports Executive action. The activists, just like abortion, border security, medical reform, energy transition…just don’t want ANY debate! My guess is they know they (largely) cannot support their positions on these various issues, including climate. LIGHT is a good sanitizer. INSIST on open, HONEST & thoughtful debate and that Congress do their JOB. If the evidence is so overwhelming, then you can SELL your ideas & positions to the public and pass legislation rather than HIDING behind executive fiat & activist court jurisdictions to invoke your agenda…
They hope to bypass Congress and the courts with bill HR 4350 recently passed by the House. It will allow any president to invoke martial law for any reason…valid or not and allow it to be enforced by the militarily or even UN troops. Anyone deemed a domestic terrorist will be arrested or murdered if resisting arrest. I’ll let you guess who they will label as domestic terrorists.
Not familiar with the details of that legislation. However, I am dubious that most of the U.S military would carry out potentially unconstitutional acts against the domestic population. I also have a feeling that UN troops won’t be much tolerated on American soil. That, and with a well armed citizenry, these potential tyrants might be in for a big surprise if they decide to play the domestic terrorist card…
