Back in 1975, when there was still considerable concern about decades of Northern Hemisphere cooling, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) announced in their report that the end of the current interglacial could arrive sooner than thought.
“[T]here is a finite probability that a serious worldwide cooling could befall the earth within the next hundred years.”

The NAS cooling concerns were substantiated by a 1973 scientific paper published in Nature that quantified a sharp cooling surge from 1958 to 1963.
According to Starr and Oort (1973), about 175,000 measured monthly temperatures for “92% of the atmosphere” indicated that the Northern Hemisphere cooled by -0.6°C during 1958-’63. [Click to enlarge]

In today’s NASA GISS temperature record, there is no indication that an NH cooling of -0.6°C ever occurred.
Instead, the 1958-’63 period looks to be either flat or only modestly declining (<0.1°C). [Click to enlarge]

According to the prevailing evidence at the time, Pirazzoli, 1990 reported that a 0.5°C increase in global temperature had occurred between the years 1880 and 1950.
Today, this 0.5°C warming has disappeared. The same NASA GISS dataset now has no warming between 1880 and 1950. [Click to enlarge]

Between 2008 and 2018, NASA GISS added 0.24°C of trend-steepening warmth to the 1910 to 2000 period.
To accomplish this transformation, the pre-1950 temperatures were cooled, and the more recent temperatures were warmed up so as to create a more linear warming trend. [Click to enlarge]

The motivation to change the data (i.e., “correct” the temperature record to support the “argument”), can be gleaned from the leaked e-mail exchanges between the overseers of temperature data sets. [Click to enlarge]
As there is considerable evidence that the integrity of the climate record has been compromised, it may be time to reconsider what the global temperature trends may look like when they are not “corrected” to fit the narrative preferred by data overseers.
A year ago, a global instrumental dataset (450 temperature stations from across the world) was published (Lansner and Pepke Pedersen, 2018) that only used non-coastal — non-urban and non-ocean-air affected — thermometers.
In other words, these temperature data have not been corrupted by artificial or non-climatic thermal influences.
Without the biases and adjustments, the 1900 to 2010 instrumental record shows the more recent decades are no warmer than the 1920s to 1940s. Further details on this temperature data set can be found here. [Click to enlarge]

There are certain convincing indications that the claims of human caused climate change are false. One is the poor correlations between the earth’s temperature history and carbon dioxide levels. Another is the high correlation of such history with solar output. Yet another is the failure of real world data to agree with the IPCC computer models. However, the strongest evidence against anthropological climate change comes from its advocates. The researchers at NASA do know what is going on. The only reason that they could possibly have for altering historical data is they know that the unaltered data doesn’t support the climate change movement.
David, the only way they can produce a warming trend from the raw data, is to alter it and create a warming trend. ie: FRAUD
The raw data for all data sets (RSS, UAH, HCN) show NO warming trend. So, how on Earth can GISS and others present a warming trend? .. FRAUD !!! .. period .. if the raw data doesn’t show a warming trend, then any warming trend you present has to be fraudulent!
The last chart is telling. Rural readings are not an alarmist’s friend. SQUIDLY mentioned recently that raw satellite data shows no warming either. Hmmm
Indeed SonnyHill, Tony Heller has done some extensive work regarding UAH and RSS data. They have begun adjusting RSS data to match GISS data now in order to cover their tracks. Their problem with this now is that Christy and Spencer are not going to cooperate in this effort to falsify their own UAH data. Additionally, Dr. Spencer (and Tony Heller) predicted, more than 5 years ago, that RSS would be doing exactly what they are doing now (falsifying their data). And as if on queue, that is exactly what RSS has done and their changes have been made in virtually perfect agreement to what Dr. Spencer and Tony Heller (and a few others) predicted! .. almost perfectly!
The bottom line is, and and all “homogenized” temperature data, whether it be from the HCN (historical climatology network), RSS (remote sounding systems) or any other raw source of data, is fraudulent. Tony Heller and others have proven beyond doubt that this is true.
And to your point, looking at the raw satellite data and the HCN raw data, it is very clear there has be absolutely no warming trend. One need not even adjust for magnitude (adjust to get absolutely temperature) but just by plotting the raw data itself it becomes very clear that the only possible way to extract a warming trend is to fraudulently alter the data. There is no other way!
Not surprising if gov. is anywhere near climate reports.
