The majority of Britons are unwilling to significantly reduce the amount they drive, fly and eat meat in order to combat climate change, a Sky Data poll reveals.
Just over half – 53% – say they would be unwilling even in principle to significantly reduce the amount they fly, while 28% say they would be willing to give up traveling by plane or reduce the amount they do so significantly (19% say they never fly anyway).
People responding to polls often overclaim their willingness to change their behavior in ways considered socially desirable – but despite this, some 52% say they would be unwilling to reduce the amount of meat they eat much (31%) or at all (21%) to help reduce global warming.
Four in ten say they would be willing to either reduce their meat consumption significantly (35%) or give it up entirely (five percent). A further eight percent do not eat meat.
A report from the Committee on Climate Change called for people to reduce how much meat they eat and how often they fly.
It also called for the government to bring forward the planned ban on conventional car sales by ten years to 2030, encouraging people to switch to driving electric cars.
Some 56% say they would be unwilling to drive significantly less to protect the environment, with 28% saying they would be willing to reduce the amount they drive significantly or give it up entirely (17% already do not drive).

Because a summer BBQ beats sitting in the house all day long watching some mindless enviromentalist drivel on TV
We need to be aware that, as the article said, “Polls often over claim their willingness to change their behavior in ways considered socially desirable.” This has been shown in a number of polls on transportation. In area where 18% are using public transportation to get to work, a poll many show that 48% say they are willing to do so.
Another thing missing from such polls is how far people are willing to go. The number of people who are willing to reduce meat conception by 90% certainly is a fraction of the number who are willing to reduce it by 10%. This also applies to other areas. What the radical left is calling for would require a 90% reduction.
The UK parliament by declaring a climate emergency has just surrendered to the bullying of the radical left. This climate emergency declaration is a commitment to make changes that significantly reduce the quality of the average persons’ lifestyle, something that this poll showed that the Brits are unwilling to do. What needs to be done is members of parliament need to be replaced in the next election. Unfortunately this isn’t like to happen. All too often voters continue to vote for the same people even though this means voting for representatives that are doing the exact opposite of what is desired.
Those burgers make me hungry. I think I’ll grill a steak tonight.
No more than people around the globe. With the constant refrain that the climate is in peril when there is zero evidence that it is acting any differently than the past. Or being told that tipping point is just ahead, revised every ten years when we passed yet another tipping point, most people ignore the claims constantly being pushed by the media.
What? Are you saying the Liberal Alarmist Media (LAMe) is pushing an agenda that is not truthful and serves the Socialist puppet masters? Go figure.
See even the Brits are not about to change their lifestyles just to appease a whole bunch of loose nuts that have fallen from the Nut Tree over fake crisis like Global Warming/Climate Change
