Here we go again. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has declared a 12-year climate “tipping point” in which we have to act in order to fight “global warming.”
Ocasio-Cortez is only the latest activist to join in the endless climate “tipping point” movement, joining former Vice President Al Gore, former President Barack Obama, UN leaders, and Prince Charles.

That warning appeared in an April 28, 1975, article about global cooling! Same rhetoric, different eco-scare.

Earth “Serially Doomed”
Perhaps the best summary of the tipping-point phenomenon comes from UK scientist Philip Stott. “In essence, the Earth has been given a 10-year survival warning regularly for the last fifty or so years. We have been serially doomed,” Stott explained.
“Our post-modern period of climate change angst can probably be traced back to the late-1960s, if not earlier. By 1973, and the ‘global cooling’ scare, it was in full swing, with predictions of the imminent collapse of the world within ten to twenty years, exacerbated by the impacts of a nuclear winter.”

Comedians Penn & Teller explain how the tipping point works. Their segment on their TV show Bullshit! featuring global warming activist Ross Gelbspan is priceless: “Ross Gelbspan has asserted that ‘Unchecked, global warming will bankrupt the global economy by 2065.’”
But Penn Jillette was having none of it: “Where did Gelbspan get that data, how did he choose that date of 2065? I will tell you how–this asshole figures he will be dead by then and not have to own up.”
In 2016, just after President Donald Trump’s election, New York Times columnist Eduardo Porter wrote an article featuring the headline “Earth Isn’t Doomed Yet. The Climate Could Survive Trump.”
It may be that the only authentic climate “tipping point” we can rely on is this one, issued in 2007: New Zealand atmospheric scientist Augie Auer, former University of Wyoming professor of atmospheric science, said “We’re all going to survive this. It’s all going to be a joke in five years.”

I must admit that I am completely outraged by this. 12 years is just no enough time to make preparations for the end of the world. We still have not found the long-sought “2nd Earth” and meanwhile our technology is still bound in Apollo-age propulsion methods which are far from ready to embark on interplanetary, let along interstellar, travel. There’s just so much to get done. Please give us 20-30 years at least so that we can make the proper arrangements to get out of here.
My only hope is that, once we find a destination and develop the means to go there, the nit-wits who created this Panic! will be left behind to rot.

The Earth has previously been a sauna and a snow ball, but here we are now, apparently in Goldilocks Heaven, just right. Two degrees has never been the end of the world.
We need to understand the concept of “tripping point.” The theory is the temperature reaches such a point where some positive feed mechanism causes increased warming on top of what is supposed to result from man’s emissions. An example is that the perma-frost would get warm enough to start emitting methane. The earth is in a cool period in comparison to the last 10,000 years and the tipping point didn’t happen when it was warmer, so we are in no damager of it happening now.
I seriously doubt that Osasio-Cortez and others who are talking about a tripping point even understand the concept. They are just repeating what they have heard from others. The fact that these predictions never come true isn’t a problem. They just make new ones with new dates.
They are trying the same concept that is common with car dealerships. They have a sale, but immediate action is required because these prices will not last long. By predicting near term tripping points, the climate activists are using the same tactic to get the Green New Deal and its socialist hitch hikers implemented.
The radicals are taking advantage of the fact that there are a few among us who want to believe in the end of the world. The long history of numerous religious end of the world predictions show that. The Earth wasn’t supposed to last longer than a thousand years after Christ so the year 1000 was going to be the end of the world.
Could it be that AO-C is a comedian? She’s mocking the gullibles?

If we attempt what AO-C and Climate Barbie propose, we’ll be weakened and defenceless. No fuel? WWIII would last about one week.
I disagree with Augie Auer although wish his statement were true. The left won’t let go of the global warming, er climate change scam because it is how they want to control us. Even if that control destroys our economies and standard of living.
