Should it really be any surprise that not all teenagers are on the same page as Greta Thunberg? According to a poll by Survation, 31 percent of Britons between the ages of 13 and 17 agree with the statement ‘climate change and its effects are being purposefully overexaggerated.’ [emphasis, links added]
I am not entirely sure what is meant by the now commonplace concept of ‘overexaggeration’ – which presumably means something beyond the optimum level of exaggeration – but never mind.
I’ll take it as the teenagers themselves presumably interpreted it: that they are not entirely convinced by the rhetoric thrown at them daily, such as ‘the world is on fire’ (Greta Thunberg) or ‘there will be the slaughter, death, and starvation of six billion people’ (Roger Hallam, co-founder of Extinction Rebellion) or ‘we have five years to save the planet’ (the World Wildlife Fund in, er, 2007) and think that the reality is quite likely a lot more modest than that.
But, no, this can’t possibly be a sign of teenagers thinking for themselves and working out that climate activists are spinning apocalyptical visions to promote their cause.
Rather it is a sign that our youth have fallen victim to a dark conspiracy to poison their minds with shameless lies. Or so the Center for Countering Digital Hate (‘hate’ in this case seems to mean anything that diverges from its left-wing views) seems to think.
It says it has analyzed 96 YouTube channels that it thinks might be responsible, including ones that have spread such blatant untruths as ‘climate policies are ineffective or flawed’ (they are, as we all know, fully baked and 100 percent effective) or that ‘Clean energy technology or biofuels won’t work’ (it is wrong to single out wind and solar energy sources as being intermittent, according to the Center for Countering Digital Hate, because gas- and coal-powered stations sometimes need to be taken offline, too).
It also seems to think it is a lie to deny that the world is suffering from more storms – even though that assertion is flatly contradicted by the observational evidence presented by the IPCC.
The world, according to the Center for Countering Digital Hate, is engaged in an ‘enlightenment battle of truth and science versus lies and greed.’
And YouTube and other social media platforms are disgracefully giving airtime to the latter when of course they should only be hosting videos informing us that we are all going to die.
It does rather restore faith in the current generation of teenagers to realize that a third of them can see this guff for what it is: left-wing activism trying to erect a false divide between ‘science’ and unreason.
When today’s teenagers reach adulthood and start witnessing how predicted doomsdays pass without incident, I dare say a few more of them will move into the camp that believes there is quite a bit of exaggeration over climate change.

Nearly one-third of UK teens think climate change is overexaggerated. Well, that’s because it is overexaggerated. I agree with those UK teens. Climate change has been overexaggerated and it’s been overexaggerated for literally years and decades. Yes, climate change does exist and yes, climate change is real. 100% it is real. I’m not going to deny that climate change is real because it is real. It’s always existed, here on Earth as well as on the trillions and trillions of other planets throughout our observable universe. And it will always exist. Whether it’s global warming or global cooling, on any planet for that matter, including Earth, climate change is a natural phenomenon. Earth has over 8 billion people and quadrillions of animals and possibly or likely extraterrestrials living on Earth too and we are all affected by natural climate change. The thing is that the climate alarmists or left-wing figures who are climate alarmists think and believe that humans and animals alike here on Earth are primarily responsible for climate change and for extreme weather events like tornadoes, tropical cyclones, etc. See, there’s that overexaggeration that those teens in the United Kingdom are talking about. It could not be further from the truth. Humans and animals alike have and have had nothing or little to do with climate change for millennia and eons(speaking about animals). And if there are alien civilizations out there in the observable universe, which there are, most likely, they most likely wouldn’t have anything to do with climate change on their planets either. And in fact, now back talking about our planet of Earth, extreme weather events like tornadoes, tropical cyclones, etc, overall have all been declining in intensity and severity, some of them that have been experiencing that for decades or the last century or more. For example, tropical cyclones overall have been declining in intensity and severity over the last century, or since the year 1900, or very likely earlier. Tornadoes have been declining in intensity overall since the 1970s or so, in particular with F-3 or higher tornadoes. Blizzards on the other hand, they have actually been increasing overall in the last 29-30 years, or since 1995, across the Northern Hemisphere. Snow cover has been increasing in the Northern Hemisphere since the 1950s, and the Southern Hemisphere’s snow cover has been increasing for centuries. Droughts and drought intensity and severity of droughts, they too have been declining in recent years and decades too. And so on. This doesn’t mean that these extreme weather events that are declining in intensity and severity are going to go away. No, unfortunately, tornadoes and tropical cyclones, etc, they will never go away. But, there are some extreme weather events across the globe that are declining in intensity and severity right now and they have been declining in intensity and severity for years and decades. The Left and climate alarmists need to understand that extreme weather events, as well as climate change itself, especially here on Earth, is not caused by humans or animals alike that live on Earth. Until they do, we unfortunately won’t hear the end of them overexaggerating our climate and our storms and weather events that occur here on Earth. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t criticize them for overexaggerating it. And that includes the climate alarmists who are overexaggerating our climate and weather events here in the Western Hemisphere(U.S, Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, New York state, California, Brazil, Indiana, Iowa, New Mexico, etc).
The School that replaced Reading Riten and Rithmatic with Reduce, Reuse and Recycle they even made a Dumb song about it. I would really like to see the Eco-Freaks doing something other then Blocking roads and marching around with stupid sign and banners with stupid slogans on them and making total pests of themselves
If only one third of children see what’s going on, that is discouraging. The Center for detection of digital hate is using George Orwell’s 1984 Ministry of Truth as a blueprint. Educators and the socialist media do the dirty work.
