On Monday’s NBC Nightly News, after spending the first five minutes of the broadcast panicking over a heat wave in the middle of July, anchor Lester Holt and correspondent Anne Thompson chalked the warm weather up to “climate change” and sought to blame Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) for blocking the Biden administration’s radical climate change agenda, which would drive inflation up further by pumping more money into the economy. “This severe weather certainly underscores the increasing role of climate change and the challenges America faces in trying to combat it,” Holt whined before turning to Thompson to give her report.
Thompson picked up where Holt left off by dramatically proclaiming:
“…as the nation swelters through this heatwave, any immediate climate action is on the ropes after two stinging defeats. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin from coal-rich West Virginia today defending his decision to block President Biden’s climate legislation including tax incentives for wind and solar power and electric vehicles.”
“Add to that the Supreme Court limiting the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon emissions from power plants, the nation’s second-largest source of the gases driving climate change” Thompson cried.
She then interviewed Dan Lashof of the leftist World Resources Institute about how Manchin’s blocking Biden’s climate agenda and the Supreme Court striking down the EPA for overstepping its authority to regulate will “do to President Biden’s climate agenda?”
Lashof bemoaned how “there’s no sugarcoating it” and “they’re major setbacks.”
Thompson bemoaned the fact that “polls show a majority of Americans, 65 percent are worried about global warming, but only one percent of voters say climate change is the top issue facing the country. Among voters under 30, that number rises only to three percent.”
Turning back to Lashof, Thompson fretted how “climate change always seems to be the issue that we can put off until tomorrow,” asking: “Are we at the point that we can no longer put off acting on climate change?”
Lashof ludicrously claimed “30 years ago it was a problem for the future. It is a problem for now, now.”
Nowhere in this report was there any feedback or interviews with clear-thinking experts who would’ve told Thompson that the planet goes through a series of warming and cooling phases and humans have no control over the climate.

Well, there are temperature records available, so how does this “Heat Wave” stack up historically? Anything (really) out of the range of normal climate variability over data sets that (probably) stretch out over 100 years in the U.S? No statement of actual facts, scientific observations…Just emotion & FEAR PORN. No wonder large segments of the population are “tuning out” traditional media sources. No “Street Cred”…
I have memorized some statistics from Tony Heller’s site that I can cite whenever I talk to a climate hysteric. These are from the second week of July 1936.
Every state reached at least 90 F.
40 states reached at least 100 F.
17 states reached at least 110 F.
South Dakota reached 115 F.
California reached 120 F (which was not even a state record).
Also, the following month, my home state of Arkansas set its all-time high temperature record of 120 in Ozark on August 10th. I tell people here in Arkansas that what we are experiencing now is nothing compared to the 1930’s. I have also loaded a chart into my cell phone that lists state records for high temps. 24 states set their all-time high temperature records during the 1930’s. Only three states have set their high temperature records since the year 2000 according to the chart.
Your honor, I rest my case. The 1930’s were hotter than what we are experiencing now- and CO2 levels were much lower back then.
They haven’t finished revising the 1930s temperature records yet. Patience, grasshopper. 😉

Exactly. The truth is there is barely enough (0.04% of the atmosphere) CO2 to sustain the environment – all life (which is literally made from the stuff!) Any level of CO2 below 2,000ppm is a starvation level low. Politicians and “journalists” continue to completely ignore the science of CO2 biology.
