Data from the University of Rutgers show that the northern hemisphere snow cover in the fall and winter have trended upwards since data recording began in 1967.
The following chart shows northern hemisphere snow cover for fall, where we see a formidable upward trend:
Next, we see the chart for wintertime northern hemisphere snow cover. Though the trend is not as pronounced as it is in the fall, the trend has been modestly upward.
Finally, we look at the latest Arctic ice volume data from PIOMAS:
As we can observe, Arctic ice mass has in fact stabilized over the recent decade after having shrunk during the previous 2001-2010 decade.
It should be noted that data going back to 1900 show that Arctic sea ice AREA had been low as well during the 1930 to 1960 period before reaching a peak in the 1970s and 1980s.
In summary, nothing to worry about up in the Arctic.

RECEDING GLACIERS.
Except over a small area, it is generally understood, the glaciers of the world are retreating to the mountains. The glacier on Mount Sermiento in South America, which descended to the sea when’ Darwin found it in 1836, is now separated from the shore by a vigorous growth of timber. The Jacobshaven glacier in Greenland has retreated four miles since 1850, and the East glacier in Spitzbergen is more than a mile away from its original terminal
moraine. In Scandinavia the snowline is further up the mountains, and the glaciers have withdrawn 3,000ft. from the lowlands in a century. The Araphoe glacier in the Rocky Mountains, with characteristic American enterprise, has. been melting at a rapid rate for several years. In the Eastern Alps and one or two other small districts the glaciers are growing. In view of these facts we should not be too sceptical when old men assure us that winters nowadays are not to be compared with the winters of their boyhood.
They told us there would be no more snow because of Global Warming/Climate Change they were wrong but they still tell us lies
How is that possible? We were told kids would soon only know about snow from old photos and videos! However, if you want to see what those who are putting up millions of dollars thinks about whether there’ll be snow in the next few decades is looking at the construction of million dollar condos at ski resorts throughout the Rocky Mountains. Building hasn’t slowed one bit. In fact, given the Trump economy it has really taken off.
Unusually mild winter here in southern Ontario (I know, weather isn’t climate) and nobody is complaining. Ice fishing and snow plowing is taking a hit. I’ll have a big firewood carry-over, so some trees get a reprieve from the chainsaw.
Gasoline will continue to be a bargain.
It’s all good.
There’s a lovely remark in the rather biased disquisition on Arctic ice in the nsdic website. It gets over the inconvenient fact that spring equinox ice cover has reached some 13 to 14 million square km consistently for 40 years. It’s because it butts up AGAINST THE LAND ALL ROUND THE ARCTIC SEA!! It’s UNFAIR! It doesn’t show melting!!
They are worrying about the arctic sea ice that floats on the ocean? And even if it melts has very little impact to sea level. Ok. Alarmist will grab onto anything.
