Mayor Pete Buttigieg claimed during the Democrat debate on Tuesday hosted by CNN that the massive brush fires in Australia were started by global warming.
“In Australia, there are literally tornados made of fire taking place,” Pete Buttigieg said when asked about climate change. “This is no longer theoretical.”
But the direct cause of the Australia fires is a result of arson, not climate change, as Breitbart News has chronicled.
Over 180 alleged arsonists have been arrested since the start of this year’s bushfire season, and 29 fires were reportedly started deliberately in just three months.
Twenty-four Australians were arrested in New South Wales alone for setting fires intentionally as the record blazes sweep the country.
The rate of deliberately lit fires reportedly escalated during the Australian school holidays.
Police in five Australian states have begun investigations into the alleged arsonists arrested for fueling the fires.
Pressure from environmental groups has also prevented landowners from clearing out a glut of dry vegetation in the region.
Bushfire scientist David Packham warned in 2015 that the forest fuel levels had reached the worst in 30 years as a result of “misguided green ideology” warning of a repeat of the Black Saturday bushfires in the Australia state of Victoria in 2009.

Look at the backdrop behind him.
Need I say more?
I had to laugh when i read about this mans claim that ” Fire Tornado’s ” were sweeping the firegrounds. Yes it is true that a fire can behave in such a manner but only in a very small way. I have observed this phenomena during burning operations on my family farm many times but they where the size of a small ” willy willy ” or dust devil as some people call them. The one shown on film clips was very similar. It goes to show how these Climate change bed wetters will go to promote this nonsense.
O great, another moron. Same old, same old. Let’s deny every fact, let’s ignore Australia having some of the most flammable trees in the world, that we always have had droughts, long, long before so called climate whatever it’s called this week. Let’s forget the nearly 200 arsonists, we should definitely forget the (Greens) Commos preventing any cool burning and proper forest management.
Let’s all just throw away the last 200 years progress for climate fantasy.
Remember, the goals of the leftists are destruction of free enterprise, forced poverty and close government control of people’s lives, new taxes, and transfer of wealth from the developed countries to the developing countries. To justify these actions, they blame everything bad from Australia’s brush fires to Johnny’s bad grade in math on climate change. Drought in Australia, California, and other locations are nothing new and have happened before the build up of carbon dioxide.
Every report on the Australian fires should mention arson as part of the problem, along with the negligence that has allowed the brush to accumulate.
Mayor Buttplug is telling his audience something lower than a half truth. Pushing climate change might keep him in the Democrats good books, but too much Green propaganda guarantees them a loss in November.
Mayor Pete is just following the party line.
What a total idiot he is but a typical liberal democrat all lies no truths will ever pass his lips just as rediculous and all these liberal carck-pots
Regardless of the ignition sources, it appears there is a creditable amount of scientific evidence that indicates weather patterns over Antarctica and tidal influences in the Indian oceans are largely responsible for the recent drought & ongoing dry weather. Couple that with urban development & brushland vegetation management and you have a “recipe for disaster.” Whether it’s Australia or California, folks need to start looking at the nuance & complexity of these events. Defaulting to “climate crisis” as the culprit is both intellectually LAZY and offers no constructive solutions. Rational & thoughtful debate on climate issues needs to start making a big COMEBACK in 2020 if we expect sensible environmental & energy policies in the U.S. The ongoing Democratic platform and their “calculus” on climate change, in my view, is a big FAIL…
