The media has been pushing Hurricane Harvey as a global warming event. The truth is there are fewer hurricanes. They have been declining over time. That doesn’t stop the media from putting out fake news.
A CNN reporter tried to blame the intensity of Hurricane Harvey on climate change, which was immediately beaten down by an actual scientist.
The reporter asked: “Is there a why to this? Why there is so much water associated with this storm? One thing we heard from scientists over the last 10 years is that climate change does impact the intensity of many of the storms that we see.”
Scientist Read replied: “I’m not — I’m probably wouldn’t attribute what we’re looking at here. This is not an uncommon occurrence to see storms grow and intensify rapidly in the western Gulf of Mexico. That’s as long as we’ve been tracking them, that has occurred. The why for the big rain is the stationarity. That fact that the storm is going to come inland and not move…while it has happened in some cases, to have a really big storm come and stall like this is really rare.”
A decade ago, scientists tried to tie hurricanes and global warming together and failed.
The fact is that Harvey was the first major hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since 2005.
It was a natural event. Waters of the Western Gulf of Mexico were extremely warm, there was very little wind shear, and there was an area of low pressure near Mexico – perfect conditions for a hurricane. The effects are also based not on climate change, but an expected climate effect as a result of expected conditions.
In the case of one Detroit online news site, they claimed: Scientists are uncertain about whether or not global warming will cause more hurricanes. In fact, some scientists say that a warmer planet will actually result in fewer hurricanes.
In other words, if there are more hurricanes, it’s global warming, if there are fewer, it’s global warming and they are saying this with no evidence.
The NY Times wrote: The most recent draft of a sweeping climate science report pulled together by 13 federal agencies as part of the National Climate Assessment suggested that the science linking hurricanes to climate change was still emerging….
There is no evidence but don’t give up, it’s an emerging and if that doesn’t work, they will pretend it’s affecting them: Dr. Hayhoe noted that scientists are not saying that hurricanes are necessarily caused by climate change, but are being affected by them.
Time Magazine admits there is no evidence that climate change affects hurricanes but they are getting better at measuring it: But the inability to say with certainty an individual storm was caused by climate does not necessarily mean that scientists should continue repeating the phrase that climate change cannot be blamed for individual storms, says Heidi Cullen, chief scientist at Climate Central and a study co-author.
There is no evidence but that doesn’t mean we can’t blame it on climate change, aka global warming.

You had to figure that the leftists news media especialy the Communists News Network(CNN)would blame Hurricane Harvey on Global Warming/Climate Change like they did with Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy and of course Al Bore Robber Kennedy Jr and Lairnardo DiCrapio
The simple fact that Harvey is stationary explains the flooding. Humidity from the Gulf of Mexico keeps feeding it until blocking high pressure systems move away.
There’s pent up demand for “proof” of global warming. The MSM will find it difficult to resist exploiting the tragedy.
