If I said I had never met a famous person I’d be lying. There was Percy Thrower at the Ideal Home Exhibition about 60 years ago. However, I do know someone who knew somebody who became mega-famous.
My good friend, who is Chinese and now sadly half a world away, arrived in this country aged 16 to study whilst working in a relative’s restaurant in Birmingham. He told me that a waitress at the restaurant had been very kind to him; her name was Mandy Rice-Davies.
There is no euphemism here: she genuinely befriended a young lad thousands of miles from home. Having done a bit of research, I believe she must have been about 16 herself.
If this seems a bit of a clunky beginning for an article on climate change I have introduced, in a way, China – and I leave the last words to Mandy.
So we have had more than three decades of faulty science regarding anthropogenic global warming (AGW) with countless false prophecies along the way. Having become highly politicized, it has as its cheerleaders Greta Thunberg, Carrie Symonds, and Extinction Rebellion.
Let us move from the self-lacerating West and travel to China, which is full of intelligent and hard-working people who also have the advantage of being hard-headed; perhaps that’s what thousands of years of civilization do.
This is not undue flattery: for too long we have underestimated our enemy. Look at the Belt and Road initiative, look at what they are doing to Hong Kong, look at UK universities prostituting themselves.
In 2019, Chinese scientists looked back at those thousands of years and concluded they were more worried by global cooling caused by solar cycles than AGW. To be fair they do not disavow global warming but then you will never get a paper published if you do.
The excellent people at Electroverse have been warning of an incoming grand solar minimum for a long time and, refreshingly, they don’t fiddle results or pooh-pooh historic data if it doesn’t fit their theory.
In fact, they embrace the historic data. If you are unaware of what is involved think back to pictures of skating on the Thames but remember cold is life’s enemy much more than heat.
With its massive economic growth over the last 20 years, China is the largest single emitter of carbon dioxide at about 28 percent of the global total (the UK is 1 percent).
It has plentiful supplies of coal, hence a proliferation of coal-fuelled power stations. That proliferation is accelerating.
In the first six months of this year, a further 58 gigawatts of coal-fuelled power stations have been announced. Peak demand in the UK is 62 gigawatts – they are going to build extra capacity which nearly equals our current peak demand!
So as global cooling occurs, the Chinese will stay toasty warm while we sit and shiver waiting for our expensive green power to be turned back on.
In September of this year, President Xi Jinping told the United Nations that China aims to have carbon emissions peak before 2030 and be carbon neutral by 2060. ‘Well he would, wouldn’t he?’

The most the UK can currently produce is 55gw if every method of electricity generation is working flat out 100%. This is a good website to keep track of – https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/
Then China was worried back in the 1970’s when liberal rags like Time and Newsweek was going on about Global Cooling and a New Ice Age
