[Irish] households face annual carbon tax bills of at least €3,000 unless the Government introduces a raft of measures to reduce emissions and tackle climate change. —The Irish Independent, 21 November 2018
Almost one third of Irish people living in consistent poverty could not keep their house adequately warm last year, a Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) has revealed.
The survey highlights that 48 per cent of people living in consistent poverty went without heating at some stage in the last 12 months due to cost, and 29 per cent could not afford to keep their house adequately warm. —Catholic Ireland, 11 July 2018
Minister for Climate Action and Environment Richard Bruton has revealed likely “compliance costs” facing Ireland for falling short of its 2020 targets for reducing carbon emissions – which could be as much as 95 per cent off target. —The Irish Times, 22 November 2018
Rising global sea levels may actually be beneficial to the long-term future of coral reef islands, such as the Maldives, according to new research published in Geophysical Research Letters. —Northumbria University Newcastle, 12 November 2018
Maverick geologist Robert Trice believes there are billions of barrels of crude ready to drill from granite rock buried under the UK’s Atlantic ocean floor. A report commissioned by Hurricane concludes one of its fields, called Lancaster, likely has half a billion barrels of recoverable oil. That’s worth almost $33 billion at $65 a barrel Brent crude, much of which would go to the British government in taxes. —Bloomberg, 22 November 2018
The first thing I saw this morning – (20181124) – Carbon Tax Riots in Paris – Police used tear-gas. Bloody marvelous…..
I don’t know if this is still true, but early this year the energy for Bit Coin mining created the same level of CO2 emissions as Ireland.
Just like with DDT Climate Change is being used as a excuse for more useless regulations the Paris Accord was just a tool for the globalists use to end Americas Soventry
The notion that Ireland’s puny emissions could somehow change anything is beyond ridiculous.
Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 worldwide is estimated at 3.4% of the total atmosphere (about onethird). The UK’s emission is estimated at 2% of the total, ie one fiftieth of one third, or one fifteen-hundredth of the total.
Ireland’s population is one thirteenth of the UK.
So one fifteen-hundredth divided by 13 gives you (allowing for Ireland’s higher rate of emission) around one twenty-thousandth of the world total
The amount is insignificant, yet the EU demands that Ireland levies a carbon tax on its already-highly-taxed citizens for emissions which will make absolutely no difference to the world total.
I’d say it’s time for an Irexit.
Since many hard line Greens would rather see people freeze to death over this POPULATION BOMB lie from Paul Ehrlich why else do they want to hike fuel prices You must try and get the book GREEN TYRANNY by RUPERT DARWALL
The impression I getting from the frenzy in the mass media, and the agitation in political bodies around the world, is that the virtual flat-line “warming” over the past 15 years disrupted a plan that was only supposed to last about 30 years. By that time we were all supposed to be “for” renewable energy and “carbon taxes” to “save the world”. No complaints, we were supposed to “pay up” with pride. Mother Nature betrayed them. Who “them”? Start with the United Nations. First they picked/convinced a known politician to front for them – yup, good old boy Al. Get some Hollywood “names” to talk it up too. Get some big-money folks to work behind the scenes to put pressure on “control left” politicians. It worked – for a while.
I’m reminded of a certain lady congressperson pushing a massive health care bill, “Sign it tonight, you can read it in the morning.” Will she try something similar this time?
Right on, Graham.
It’s only flat line warming if you accept their reports stuffed with “corrected and / or adjusted data” .
I still find it amazing how supporting the climate fraud has displaced everything that the liberals used to care about. They obviously no longer care about the poor since their energy policies are so hard them. They used to care about wild life, now it is okay to chop up large birds with wind mills. They used to care about forests, but now it is okay to chop them down for green energy.
In California, it is illegal to chop down trees in the forests or to clear the underbrush because of environmental laws and saving certain species, so the fires they have every years because they do not thin the forests of dead and diseased trees and do not clear the underbrush the fires become huge covering thousands of acres burning up all the critters they are supposedly trying to save as well as burning up the people and their livestock, pets, and homes. What the hell kind of sense does that make?
Speaking of tipping points you wonder when the citizens of countries like Ireland finally reach that tipping point from the ever-increasing energy bills with no change in the climate and they rise up in revolt. Hope this tipping point arrives soon before people die in the winters due to inability to afford the electricity to heat their homes.
It’ll be even worse, because the globe is NOT heating, it is cooling for the next 20-30 years and a LOT more people die from cold than from heat!
