In the year 2000, there were fewer than two dozen major power disruptions in the United States. In 2020, there were 180.
How did our electricity get so much less reliable?
A number of factors are at work in the growing instability of the grid. For one thing, much of our electricity infrastructure is aging — over 70 percent of power lines are approaching the end of their lifecycle. [emphasis, links added]
For another, extreme weather events pose a significant danger given how much of the country’s electricity infrastructure is aboveground.
One more significant part of the problem: the way we’re using renewable energy.
Because wind and solar power can’t provide electricity all of the time, they have to be backstopped by conventional energy sources.
But as states around the nation require more renewables, the result is a grid that can’t always reliably keep the lights on.
In 2022, the organization that monitors the grid warned that most of the country is going to be at an elevated risk for blackouts over the next five years.
Is America destined for a future of energy instability? The answer will depend on the choices we make going forward.

Too bad Greenpeace but if you idiots cut off all our Fossil Fuels over this whole Global Warming/Climate Change scam we’ll have to return to Whale Oil or Coal and you’ll have to mothball your ships Arctic Sunrise and Rainbow Warrior there isa a price to pay for your Lies
There is a lot of news and information on what’s happening to electricity grids in Western countries that the media is not reporting to their viewers/readers. Why is that?
When someone asks a simple but highly relevant question about electricity supply, like: should we close our nuclear and coal plants?, instead of hearing a good explanation, we hear offensive abuse.
Why is that?
It is time for the silent majority to speak up – before the lights go out.
Just shut down oil, and power the economy on magical unicorn farts.
Makes the same sense as what is being done to the electric grid. Switching from coal to natural gas was markedly “cleaner” (less CO2, which really is just plant food, but I digress), but now even natural gas is bad.
Full speed ahead on nuclear. Only thing that makes sense if CO2 is the perceived issue. Except greenies don’t like that either…
These woke reset clowns will never be able to use CBDCs to control us without a strong power grid. The financial system will collapse as will the Internet and the monstrous smart phone prison. Maybe it doesn’t matter since the ultimate goal is to wipe out 90% of humanity and there are a million ways to do that.
Why America shouldn.t be put on totally Wind and Solar Power lets do that with the UN instead
