Heavy sea ice off Newfoundland and southern Labrador has been an issue for months: it brought record-breaking numbers of polar bear visitors onshore in early March and April and since then has hampered the efforts of fisherman to get out to sea.
Let’s look back in time at how the ice built up, from early January to today, using ice maps and charts I’ve downloaded from the Canadian Ice Service and news reports published over the last few months.
The tour is illuminating because it shows the development of the thick ice over time and shows how strong winds from a May storm combined with an extensive iceberg field contributed to the current situation.
Bottom line: I can only conclude that climate change researcher David Barber was grandstanding today when he told the media that global warming is to blame for Newfoundland’s record thick sea ice conditions this year.
I suspect that because Barber’s expensive research expedition was scuttled, he simply had to find a way to garner media attention for his project — and the media obliged. Read to the end and decide for yourself.

I know who he is and who he is a member of! And that says it all! I posted that here and was censored for it!
Isn’t that right G???
Haven’t heard from him on the radio since I posted his name here! 😉
But I have seen him hiding behind some different names here! LMAO!
Where is drewski now???? I remember him talking about how warm it is here for one day, when I live here!
Lying idiot drewski calls himself
trumpanzee now
Ice is here, crab season is over, and the ice is still here! Global warming didn’t do it, that is just the natural flow of Ice with the currents from the Arctic! Funny how this was supposed to be a thing of the past? Right????
I read the article to the end. Persistent NE winds pushed ice bergs and sea ice against the east coast of Canada. David Barber’s crew look at it all and scramble their scrambled brains for a link to climate change . They were paid to find evidence and darn it, they’ll deliver. THERE WAS MULTI-YEAR ICE MIXED IN WITH THE SEA ICE!!! Ice bergs are multi-year ice. Barber claims that the old ice came from the Arctic, not Greenland ice bergs. I invoke Occam’s razor here.
Stephen Harper cut funding for ” climate research” and was called anti-science. Barber is not a scientist, but takes our money in the pursuit of propaganda. Trudeau writes the checks for it. Isn’t he adorable?
They’ll still blame this on Global Warming just like these crack-pots are still blaming Global Warming for just about everything from ISIS goons to burnt toast
