Citing a study linking pollution with shrinking penis sizes and babies born with deformed genitalia, Greta Thunberg tweeted Thursday asking people to attend her next climate strike.
In the study, Dr. Shanna Swan, a professor of environmental medicine and public health at New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital, found that phthalates, chemical waste released when producing plastics, are responsible for low fertility rates of an “existential crisis” proportion, Sky News reported.
With the rate that human fertility is dropping, Swan said, by 2045, most males will fail to produce sufficiently potent sperm.
“See you all at the next climate strike,” wrote the 18-year-old climate activist from Sweden, quoting the Sky News article on the study’s findings.
After observing that fetuses of rats exposed to phthalates were born with shrunken sexual organs, Swan began her research on humans.
Writing down her findings in her book Count Down, she noted that human male babies exposed to the chemicals while in the womb had a shorter anogenital distance, which has a co-relation with penis size, according to Sky News.
Despite having an industrial application in increasing plastics’ flexibility, phthalates threaten human development once transmitted into foodstuffs and toys, Swan stated, according to the outlet.

Since the 1970s, men in Western countries have seen their sperm counts decline by more than 50%, according to a 2017 paper that reviewed around 185 studies.
One of the scholars involved in the study had suggested that industrial pollution could be a factor behind the falling male fertility numbers since the sperm count drop was observed in Western countries and not other parts of the world, Healthline reported.

Thunberg like Hogg a example of the Brainwashing/Indoctrination going on in the Government run schools today
My guess is that Greta has yet to see an actual penis much less doing comparisons on their length. Nor can I imagine too many guys wanting to share what they could do with said penises.
Too right. There are lots of guys that find plain women attractive for other reasons. But crazy? Most give them a wide berth.
Most posts about Greta are justifiably critical. This is not intended to be critical. Considering her situation, I wonder if she ever has had the opportunity to be alone with a boy near her own age.
Now Greta Dumber is a penis expert. Great!
Greta has missed her calling…she could memorize phone books, but they’re extinct.
Appearing in a liberal rag like Time Magazine don’t mean a thing Hitler was Time Magazines 1938 Person of the Year
What in the world is the connection between the use of phthalates and affects of climate change claimed by the alarmists? The only connection that I can see is that they blame anything viewed as bad on climate change including Johnny’s bad grade in math.
The article had no data connecting Swan’s findings with rats with what is happening in humans. That was simply assumed. This is more junk science. The same is true of the assumption that lower sperm count is being caused by industrial pollution.
The assumption that a linear rate of change can be extrapolated indefinitely in the future is typical of junk science found in climate change and else where. Consider a high school student going out for track. If the improvements are placed on a graph, and extrapolated far into the future, it would show the student running at 60 miles per hour. So extrapolating the current rate of decline in sperm count to the point of infertility is not valid.
It is convenient to assume industrial pollution is causing a lower sperm count if it supports one’s agenda, but there are more likely causes. Sonnyhill mentioned tighter fitting clothes. Sperm production is impacted by temperature which is why the testicles are out side of the body. Another factor could be obesity. Obese men have lower levels of testosterone. A legitimate study would consider all of these factors.
I have done some checking. From the internet.
They found that overweight men were 11 percent more likely to have a low sperm count and 39 percent more likely to have no sperm in their ejaculate. Obese men were 42 percent more likely to have a low sperm count than their normal-weight peers and 81 percent more likely to produce no sperm.
From the CDC
From 1999–2000 through 2017–2018, the prevalence of obesity increased from 30.5% to 42.4%, and the prevalence of severe obesity increased from 4.7% to 9.2%. [Read CDC NCHS data brief]
On testosterone from the internet
Fat cells metabolize testosterone to estrogen, lowering testosterone levels. Also, obesity reduces levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), a protein that carries testosterone in the blood. Less SHBG means less free testosterone.
So, obesity is getting worse and it has a big impact on sperm count. It might not be the only factor, but unlike the suggestion of industrial pollution, there is solid evidence.
Has she done any empirical research on the alleged phenomenon?
She could not find any specimen to try. There were no volunteers.
Liberal enviromentalism causes a persons brain to shrink we see examples of that everyday with these Global Warming/Climate Change screwballs blocking traffic or climbing on the tops passenger Airliners

Yeah, I remember reading “the Population Bomb”, back in 1969ish. Thougbt it was bull then, and here I am, 52 yrs later, still kicking!
What exactly has that to do with a climate strike against carbon dioxide emissions?
Sure, there’s a link between fossil fuels and plastic production, but the same can be said for fossil fuels and soy production.
It wouldn’t surprise me if a diet rich in soy made the effects of exposure to certain plastics more troublesome to male fertility.
Tight fitting blue jeans became fashionable in the sixties. That’s more likely to lower sperm count than some coincidence with plastics. I’m not sure why Greta’s concerned about male genitalia. She’s more likely to encounter ten foot poles.
Right on…………..
Thunberg is treating the subject of male infertility much as she treats the subject of the Earth’s climate, by taking up a possible minor point and exaggerating to a palpably ridiculous degree.
Whereas it is often said in these situations that the truth lies in the middle, given the level of exaggeration here, this is surely not the case at all. Such should not surprise, as showing any semblance of equivocation is not a known tendency of the catastrophist mind. Catastrophism requires extreme exaggeration for if the threat is real, it is not catastrophism at all, simply realism.
I much prefer a more balanced realistic outlook, for without it one may be easily both ever so slightly right and almost wholly wrong at the same time. That’s a rather inglorious position to be in.
