At the big meeting of the climate youth movement in Lausanne trouble is brewing. That seems to have left its mark on leader Greta Thunberg.
Today the 16-year-old had reporting journalists thrown out of the conference hall.
On the last day of the “Smile for Future” climate summit at the University of Lausanne, the mood among the teenagers remains tense.
Since Wednesday, when there had been crying fits and violent quarrels at times in the meeting, the activists have been under increased scrutiny.
The idol of the movement, Greta Thunberg, knows that too. The friction among the youngsters does not leave the 16-year-old Swede indifferent. On the contrary: On Friday morning her patience snapped. She personally had the journalists present thrown out of the hall.
Frustration Over Grassroots Democracy
The fifth and last day of the conference started with a reassessment. Micael, one of the participants who gave a speech on stage, put his finger on the summit’s weak spot: “There was little structure and it was difficult to agree on anything.”
It would appear that Micael’s complaint resonates with many of the young people present. “Grassroots democracy stops,” a participant quietly moans. “Once someone says ‘no,’ you cannot come to any more decisions.”
The frustration over the course of the climate summit is deep among teenagers.
“They Portray It As If We Had A Quarrel”
Then, from the back rows in the hall, a teenager speaks up. It is Greta Thunberg. The climate icon believes the media are to blame for the bad mood.
Thunberg, therefore, advocates excluding the journalists “because they otherwise portray it as if we had a quarrel.”

Except on Wednesday, BLICK had reported on the giant spat among Greta’s disciples. The headline caused a stir and was also picked up by newspapers abroad.
Thunberg was not pleased that the images of exasperated and crying teenagers attracted so much attention. She also rejected the claim in an article by “Buzzfeed” that she had participated in a summit strike.
U-Turn After A Few Minutes
The majority of the 450 participants in the room wave their hands as a sign of approval for Thunberg. All news media have to leave the hall while the journalists are stunned.

The question of why remains unanswered by Thunberg and her followers. “How should we report on the summit, if we are not allowed to be here?” Wolfgang Wanner asks, who had traveled to Lausanne as Swiss correspondent for the German television station ARD.
Yet media boycott by the climate teens doesn’t last for long. After a few minutes, the journalists are allowed back.
When a BLICK journalist asks about the reasons for being thrown out, the summit’s co-organizer Kelmy Martinez (21) says: “We are only human and sometimes we need privacy. As a movement, however, we strive to be as transparent as possible.”

Anyone who has spent time in youth activities could have told you that all it takes is one kid to say NO and the whole room goes bonkers. The people exploiting this child and all the others are to be shamed for abusing them for nefarious purpose.

Douglas, I’m sure your theory was gone over in great detail at Greta’s get together. Then again, probably not…
I am absolutely 100% CERTAIN that radiation from greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane etc) does NOT do what NASA energy diagrams imply, namely combine with solar radiation to add more thermal energy into the surface so as to explain the surface temperatures of Earth and Venus which, without this assumed warming by back radiation would otherwise have required a sun that delivered about three times the flux of our Sun. That is just physics – based on correct understanding and correct application of the laws of physics.
Now, that leaves us with no explanation of the surface temperatures of these planets, let alone any explanation as to why the base of the 350Km high nominal troposphere of Uranus is about 47C.
So I was never satisfied having no explanation, and that is why I set about trying to work out what was happening,making a world-first discovery of the process I called “heat creep” which is what supplies the extra two thirds or so of the required thermal energy needed into the surface to balance the outward cooling.
Again, I am absolutely 100% certain that this process takes place in all planetary tropospheres, as well as in outer crusts and mantles and even in core regions. That solves the mystery of core energy because all other explanations do not explain enough. It is actually energy that was originally from the Sun that keeps the cores of planets and satellite moons (like our own) at the temperatures they are. These cores will not cool any faster than the flux from the Sun declines, and if it increases then the surfaces, crusts, mantles and cores will also warm. We do indeed detect some seasonal temperature variations in boreholes where the temperature is already warmer than the surface. That variation cannot be explained in any other way.
Overall, there is compelling evidence on Earth and throughout the Solar System that “heat creep” occurs and that this whole new paradigm that planets and moons are not just cooling off but are maintained at current temperatures even down to their cores by solar energy supplied by the “heat creep” process which is a direct consequence of the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
