Greta Thunberg argued it is “strange” for Joe Biden to be considered a leader in climate change considering his Administration’s stance on the use of fossil fuels.
The US leader pledged to crack down on new gas and oil leases as part of his electoral manifesto but he has yet to follow through on his pledge. Ms. Thunberg noted the Biden Administration has also been expanding fossil infrastructure.
Speaking to the Washington Post, the Swedish activist said: “If you call him a leader — I mean, it’s strange that people think of Joe Biden as a leader for the climate when you see what his administration is doing.
“The US is actually expanding fossil fuel infrastructure. Why is the US doing that?
“It should not fall on us activists and teenagers who just want to go to school to raise this awareness and to inform people that we are actually facing an emergency.”
Ms. Thunberg also hit out at her own Government’s inaction to tackle the climate emergency.
She said: “People ask us, “What do you want?” “What do you want politicians to do?”
“And we say, first of all, we have to actually understand what is the emergency.
“We are trying to find a solution to a crisis that we don’t understand.
“For example, in Sweden, we ignore — we don’t even count or include more than two-thirds of our actual emissions.”
She added: “How can we solve a crisis if we ignore more than two-thirds of it? So it’s all about the narrative. It’s all about, what are we actually trying to solve? Is it this emergency, or is it this emergency?”
Ms. Thunberg also admitted to being unimpressed with November’s COP26 Summit in Glasgow, branding the event a “PR event” and a “failure.”
She said the “bare minimum” of top world emitters had committed to contribute funds to the fight against climate change as she lamented the postponing of action.
The 18-year-old added: “The money that has already been promised, the bare minimum that the so-called global north has promised that they will deliver.
“They failed to come to any conclusions, and it’s been postponed once again
“Of course, it’s a step forward that, instead of coming back every five years, they’re doing it every year now.”

What is strange is that people give credence to a mentally disabled teenager.
Greta’s star is declining and her attempts to capture headlines increasing desperate. Her USP was her youth which of course is wasting away.
