Nine protesters in Germany have been left raging at the lack of toiletry facilities provided to them for the duration of their demonstration.
The demonstrators, from the group Scientist Rebellion, have glued themselves to the floor in the Volkswagen factory in a climate change protest. [bold, links added]
The group of activists claims the carmaker accepted their right to protest but left them in a difficult predicament by refusing to provide them with a bowl to “urinate and defecate in a decent manner”.
One of the protesters, Gianluca Grimalda, said on Twitter: “They refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating.”
He said the group is on hunger strike until their demands, which consist of decarbonizing the German transport sector are met.
Mr. Grimalda said on social media: “We can’t order our food, we must use the one provided by Volkswagen. Lights off. Random unannounced checks by security guards with bright torches.”
They are also calling on Volkswagen to help tackle pollution.
Mr. Grimalda said:
“There is a real link between CO2 emissions and rising global temperatures.
“Decarbonization is important, and it must happen as fast as possible because the target for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions set through Roadmap 2050 is too far off to have a meaningful impact.”
Volkswagen has made public pledges to help tackle climate change in the future.
The manufacturer has stepped up its production of electric vehicles, saying: “In pursuit of the goal to create an entirely electric model fleet, Volkswagen invests in a holistic approach.”

The stupidity of these protests is highlighted by the aim of “decarbonizing the German transport sector”. What do they hope to see NOW? Like Just stop Oil … protesting the “failure of government to fulfil its promise to help people with their skyrocketing energy bills” … do they not realise that importing oil and gas is one of the reasons FOR skyrocketing energy bills? ludicrous!

I thought they were on a hunger strike. VW is offering/providing food? Thinking out loud: what do they do when their phone batteries run down?
A more recent article. The group was offered pizza by VW staff – they refused it, and decided on a hunger strike instead.

Hutzpah is a Yiddish word meaning unbelievable gall, insolence, or audacity. One classic example is to murder your parents and then throw yourself on the mercy of the court because you are an orphan. In expecting Volkswagen to provide them with potties or anything else is definitely Hutzpah.
They should come equipped with diapers as they are mentally at that age. When they grow up they will probably work for Blackrock or Vanguard.
My first reaction to that picture is someone has the chance to kick six deserving idiots in the head. Sell that privilege to the highest bidder and donate the proceeds to charity.

At last, a company doing what we have all wanted for weeks. Let these twerps suffer a tiny amount of inconvenience for causing the disruption of their demonstration. This should happen to all such people – or have them arrested and sent to jail for around 5 years. Meanwhile, we can all have a good laugh!
