As usual, the progressive arguments are apocalyptic. If we don’t drive inflation even higher, the world will end!
But also, as usual, the green arguments and priorities are out of touch with reality.
The centerpiece of BBB is a whopping $300 billion in tax credits for producers and consumers of wind and solar power.
Also for buyers of electric vehicles, so maybe that Tesla can cost you $40,000 instead of $48,000. Elon Musk could use the money.
No matter how much wind and solar output falls short of the world’s energy needs, liberals keep doubling down. It isn’t economically sustainable? Let’s subsidize it MORE.
Forced to compete in the open market, energy producers would innovate and diversify in ways that made economic sense.
The cost of renewables has fallen significantly over the past decade. But Democrats would rather waste millions trying to force adoption.
And that’s assuming these are the best way forward. As Anthony Yuen, head of energy strategy at Citi Research told CNBC:
“You might build a lot of wind farms, you might have hydro reservoirs and hydro generation facilities and you might have a lot of solar panels. The problem is: What if you don’t have enough water, wind, or solar versus your initial planning assumption?”
We had sustainable, clean energy. It’s called nuclear power. We saw what happened in New York when Gov. Andrew Cuomo shut down Indian Point. Higher electricity bills across the state.
We also saw what happened when Joe Biden campaigned against drilling and pipelines. He had to go beg Saudi Arabia for more oil.
Democrats’ insistence that we go all-in on solar and wind — price, capacity, and logic be damned — isn’t saving the planet. It’s the elites punishing the general public.
We’ve already seen that innovation and adaptation can fight climate change. What we need is common sense, not a blank check.

Exactly. I’m a farmer with a B.Sc.Advanced (biology) degree. Far too many grade school teachers and virtually all television media remain completely ignorant that CO2 is essential in life and inconsequential in climate. The truth is, life is composed entirely of little carbon sacks of water we call cells. The structural long chain carbon compound part of life ALL COMES FROM CO2. And CO2, essential to life, has been dangerously and inexorably declining from life’s birth in life luxuriant levels more than twenty times today’s starvation level lows. Declining to within 30ppm of the beginning of the death of all things! Declining during glacial phases of our ongoing Pleistocene/Quaternary Ice Age. In their ignorance, they assume that fossil fuels recycling of life essential CO2 back to the environment from which it came is dangerous and influential on climate. It is neither. RECYCLING CO2 BACK TO THE ENVIRONMENT IS THE GREENEST CONTRIBUTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT HUMAN BEINGS HAVE EVER ACCOMPLISHED. And climate remains well within the two great cycles of our last nearly three million year old, ongoing Pleistocene/Quaternary Ice Age. The coldest range of temperature since multicellular life evolved nearly six hundred million years ago. About today’s climate, temperatures are not steady and unchanging. Rather, they cycle with a TWELVE DEGREE C range of temperature in one hundred thousand year cycles. That temperature range is so large that during the coldest eight degree C, 85 thousand year portion of each Milankovitch Eccentricity driven cycle, ice sheets thousands of feet thick accumulate to latitudes as far south as NYC. We call this glacial phases. Only during the warmest four-degree C interglacial phases (our current one is called the Holocene) do temperatures warm enough that ice retreats to today’s polar latitudes. Interglacials last about fifteen thousand years of the one hundred thousand year total cycle. During the Holocene, we invented the first technology of civilization – agriculture. Of course television “journalism” knows none of this. And knowing nothing, they spew it endlessly.
