There was the annual Polk County Democratic Party Steak Fry yesterday, featuring every presidential candidate and many national Democratic figures donning ridiculous aprons to cook steaks for potential voters.
It was an interesting scene.
At the recent CNN town hall on climate change, most of the Democratic candidates who were cooking and eating steak lectured the rest of us on our eating habits; in short, we eat too much meat.
“As a nation, we actually have to have a real priority at the highest level of government around what we eat and in terms of healthy eating because we have a problem in America,” Harris said. “But there has to be also what we do in terms of creating incentives that we will eat in a healthy way, that we will encourage moderation and that we will be educated about the effect of our eating habits on our environment.”
Andrew Yang said he would “modify Americans’ diets over time” by increasing the price of beef to the point where Americans would buy less meat. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Mayor Pete Buttigieg are also in favor of adding a meat tax in order to decrease consumption.
A “meat tax”? The Iowa GOP had a lot of fun skewering Democrats for their hypocrisy.
The state GOP released a statement full of meat-related puns on Friday, warning that “there couldn’t be more at steak” as the Democratic candidates visit Iowa for the fundraiser on Saturday night.
“As the candidates continue beefing over whose extreme proposals go further left, it’s clear this election will be a cook-off between socialism and President Trump’s winning, America First agenda,” the local party said.
The Iowa GOP argued Democrats have turned themselves into “a laughing stock” by appearing at a steak fry, accusing the candidates of hypocrisy over statements urging Americans to eat less meat or calls to tax the meat industry to combat climate change.
“The Steak Fry will be a great opportunity for caucus-goers to grill 2020 Democrats on their extreme policies that would limit Iowans’ freedoms and liberties,” said Jeff Kaufmann, chairman of the Iowa Republican Party. “As they continue butchering their positions, it’s clear the Democratic agenda would steer us in the wrong direction.”
I’m surprised the Iowa GOP didn’t have some fun with the cow fart angle of meat production.
Cory Booker, an outspoken vegan, wants to end subsidies for the meat industry. In Iowa. While running for president.
Maybe he should go after ethanol subsidies too and really piss off Iowa farmers.

Someone should roast a whole beef over open fire and say Your Roasting the Jackass
Spurwing, you hint at entitlement with your monarchy reference. In Canada, the establishment considers the Liberals to be the Natural Governing Party. It’s their job, until they stink up the place. They then lose an election , regroup, and retake their rightful throne.
This Justin Trudeau situation is putrid. Apparently he walks on water, as long as the media are his stilts.
