The UK and Scottish governments are waging war on the motorist in their mission to reduce greenhouse gases to net zero.
In view of all the demands of climate change demonstrators and their disciples, surely measuring greenhouse gas emissions should be introduced in other areas such as music festivals, football matches, awards ceremonies, fireworks displays, off-road cycling, hill walking, and skiing.
These pastimes require a vehicle to get there, creating more emissions, so how will these emissions be offset? A green tax on the individual?
Dame Emma Thompson, stung by criticism over flying 5,400 miles from LA to London to join Extinction Rebellion climate protesters, planted a few trees.
The Extinction Rebellion demonstrations must have created thousands of tons of additional emissions: what have their followers done to offset this?
These comments show how ridiculous the crusade to reduce emissions really is, where the public feels the pain of green policies in higher energy bills, vehicle restrictions, and green taxes.
One example is that the taxpayer has to fund the network of charging points for electric vehicles (EVs). Only the rich can afford EVs.
The companies which manufacture EVs should pay for the charging points and the affluent owners of EVs should pay to use them.
Finally, what emissions have been created by the annual Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP)?
COP25 will be held in Madrid next month, not Chile where demonstrations are creating more emissions.
Twenty-four yearly meetings have already been held, so one must ask what has been achieved and how many tons of additional emissions were created by the 30,000 attendees each year?
Reality check for politicians, Greta, impressionable schoolchildren, and XR demonstrators: the UK is responsible for 1.13 percent of global emissions, Scotland 0.13 percent, while the majority of the world burns fossil fuels, builds coal-fired power plants and drives 1.2billion vehicles, 99 percent petrol/diesel.
Saving the planet may take a little longer.

“Only the rich can afford EVs.”
Not true everywhere. Here in British Columbia, the Premier, J. Horgan, gives a minimum of $5000 to every EV buyer to help pay for their overpriced electric cars. Depending on what requirements are met, his gift can go as high as $16,000. He conveniently ignores the fact that he has taken this money from people who don’t drive, who don’t own a car, who only use mass transit and those in Seniors Care homes who barely leave the building. Those and others who simply cannot afford a new car or who don’t need one are paying for private, corporate and personal vehicles. This includes many taxis that people use to make a living. This is blatant and offensive discrimination. I will never be able to buy a nice new and horribly overpriced EV because of that $5000 as well as increased prices due to the Climate Tax. It does seem though that Horgan and Trudeau believe I should be paying for someone else’s private car. I am part owner of all those EV’s, therefore I have the right to give each and every one a damn hard kick. It is my paint or my headlight or my tail light I am whacking.
The effort against private use of automobiles has been going on for a long time. When I was a freeman in college in 1969 there is a book being sold as text book entitled “The Evil Machine.” It not only advocated but demanded the immediate and total transition from the private car to public transportation. This was before the fuel shortage and the fabrication of carbon dioxide driven climate change. The people supporting this agenda haven’t succeeded, so of course they are one of the hitch hikers on the climate change movement along with other agendas that can’t make it on their own merit.
The article mentions the Extinction Rebellion. I would like to remind everyone that this is not about the climate though they have convinced their pawns that it is. According the statements of the Extinction Rebellion’s own leaders, the movement is about punishing society for using capitalism and not accepting homosexuality. What they are trying to do is cause an economic collapse by making energy scarce and expensive.
