Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in America. While deaths from seven out of those 10 causes are decreasing, the rate at which people take their own lives has risen dramatically over the past two decades.
There’s nothing speculative about these data points. They aren’t subjective estimates. They aren’t vague predictions about what might unfold sometime in a hazy future.
These people are real. 45,000 living, breathing souls despair unto death each year. Between this moment and a month from now, another 3,600 US citizens will kill themselves.
This is a crisis. Happening right now. This is a crisis that traumatizes those left behind – relatives, friends, colleagues.
So how do we begin to make sense of a sentence that appears in a two-day-old NPR story titled Has Your Doctor Talked To You About Climate Change?
In June, the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association were among 70 medical and public health groups that issued a call to action asking the U.S. government, business and leaders to recognize climate change as a health emergency. [bold added]
That call to action says the “health, safety and wellbeing of millions of people in the U.S. have already been harmed by human-caused climate change.” It doesn’t claim anyone has actually died, though, because such a statement would be patently false.
When something that hasn’t claimed a single American life is described as an emergency, you’re being fed propaganda.
This is no trivial point. This matters. Because the fake, fraudulent, trendy, wholly imaginary climate ‘health emergency’ will suck all the oxygen out of the room. It will consume vast amounts of (finite) attention. Truckloads of (finite) financial resources will be devoted to flyers, meetings, training sessions, and never-ending ‘educational’ activities.
Meanwhile real emergencies – like rising suicide rates – will be neglected.

This is not the first time liberals who control health care organizations have abused their power to promote a progressive agenda. Many of these same organizations declared that firearm ownership was a health threat and even produced pamphlets that were handed out in doctors’ offices discouraging gun ownership. As with climate change, the facts didn’t interest them. This included much higher death rates from alcohol which is accepted in our society, or the demographics of those causing a problem.
If anything needs to be declared an emergency it is the impact of the climate change movement.
An analysis carried out by Carlos Nordt and colleagues at the University of Zurich, explored the link between increases in rates of unemployment and suicide. They concluded one in fives suicides are a result of unemployment. The Green New Deal would cause massive unemployment. So where as anthropological climate change has caused no deaths, the climate change movement would significantly increase deaths. It is already having a severe impact with fuel poverty deaths.
What type of people fret about an imminent climate catastrophe?
The climate anarchists are carelessly messing with the emotions of the mentally ill.
