Due to the California permanent drought, Squaw Valley has only had 611 inches (51 feet) of snow so far this season and may have to shut down their skiing after the 4th of July.
The 1960 winter Olympics at Squaw Valley almost had to be canceled because of a lack of snow. But that was back in the days when they ran out of snow in February instead of July.

Sixty years later, they are having difficulty keeping from being buried in snow.

The gap between reality and the minds of climate alarmists is as wide as the Grand Canyon.

This reminds me of the Alpine ski resorts who failed to upgrade their facilities because climate alarmists told them that snow would be a thing of the past. Then they had record snow fall.
Though native to Oregon I lived in California for far too long. The weather there oscillates between periods of drought and down pour as well as a few normal years. At the end of one long drought in the 1970’s I went down to the water level of Shasta Dam. The top of the dam was way up there and remaining scaffolding that had been used to build the dam had over a hundred feet exposed. We were told that it would take seven years of normal rain to recover. The state totally recovered in the extra heavy rain of the next year. I returned to the dam the next year and it was close to full. This has always been the pattern of the state’s climate. What environmental extremist do is take something that is normal and exploit it as “the worst ever” in order to advance their political agenda.
And they have been telling us there would be No More Snow because of Global Warming/Climate Change if you real’y beleive all the malarkey from a bunch or fake scientists looking to get the next grant from some liberal foundation
Same thing is happening in the Colorado Rockies this year. Breckenridge ski area received over 5ft of snow in the last seven days and the mountains are expecting another dose of 1ft+ today. Oh, and avalanches have been covering I70 as well as other highways with up to 15ft of snow.
Guess our kids won’t have to read about snow in history books after all!
