Former Vice President Joe Biden said during Thursday’s Democratic debate that he is willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of blue-collar jobs in oil and gas in an effort to help fight climate change.
One of the moderators during Thursday’s debate asked Biden if he would “be willing to sacrifice some of” the growth that “three consecutive American presidents” have seen in the economy.
This economic growth has occurred partly due to oil and gas production.
“The answer is yes,” Biden said, even after the moderator noted that the move could displace hundreds of thousands of jobs. “The answer is yes, because the opportunity, the opportunity for those workers to transition to high paying jobs, as Tom [Steyer] said, is real. We’re the only country that’s taken great crises and turned them into enormous opportunities.”
The question came as the debate about climate change continues to heat up, with many of the 2020 Democratic candidates proposing plans to help the environment.

“We have enormous opportunities,” Biden continued Thursday. “There are so many things we can do. We have to make sure we explain it to those people who are displaced – that their skills are going to be needed for the new opportunities.”
Biden did not elaborate on what specific jobs these displaced American workers would have available to them.

President Trump is trying to bring jobs home from overseas. It must be, in the back of the minds of business people, that they’re one election disaster away from a GND. I remember 1990 when Bob Rae and his NDP won Ontario. Business left in droves, hopped the border. Rae didn’t do a thing, getting elected was all it took.
Just how many of the workers displaced by Obama’s executive orders found green jobs. I don’t have the answer but it is sure bet that the number is very low.
This article is about energy jobs but there is a far larger impact. As I have said before, the company that I work for provides electronic equipment to commercial fisherman. One of the major costs for this industry is fuel. If action on climate change makes the fuel more expensive, the fishermen won’t have the money to buy equipment. Many, many thousands of companies would be impacted in hundreds of different ways by fuel being made much more expensive or not available. People like Biden are so incompetent that they don’t have a clue.
Anyone who is willing to sacrifice MY income, MY home, or MY family must be willing to replace them with HIS income, HIS home and HIS family, including staff (not that his family could EVER come close to replacing mine). After all, it’s only fair. Like Randy Verret said, above, this is not some theoretical or academic exercise where poor choices don’t have negative consequences; the average human in our world suffers all the consequences created by a Biden every damn time and I want to flip those consequences back to where they belong!
Basically, it appears (to me) that EVERY Democratic candidate is MISSING the key point. That is, they have no replacement for 80% of the U.S primary energy and 100% renewables has NO BASIS in reality. Jobs & economic activity aside, how do they propose to heat homes, provide fuel, industrial heat & electricity on the SCALE needed? Folks are going to care (eventually) whether they have reliable/affordable electricity & fuel. This is NOT some theoretical/academic exercise. Poor policy choices that lack proper accounting of energy imperatives will have very NEGATIVE consequences. The REAL problem is these misguided initiatives, driven by the alleged “Climate Crisis” are (literally) threatening the stability of our entire energy system. The Russians, Chinese, et al won’t have to worry about taking our economy down. We are getting ready to do it to ourselves if this foolishness persists…

Steve Hilton, a Fox News commentator who over the weekend had connected some Burisma corruption dots, had this to say about Connecticut U.S. Senator Dick Blumenthal’s association with the tangled knot of corruption in Ukraine: “We cross-referenced the Senate co-sponsors of Ed Markey’s Ukraine gas bill with the list of Democrats whom Burisma lobbyist, David Leiter, routinely gave money to and found another one — one of the most sanctimonious of them all, actually — Sen. Richard Blumenthal.”…
Markey, Hilton says, “was the Senate sponsor of the Green New Deal! He wants to shut down gas production in America. Yet he personally intervened with the Obama administration to send your tax dollars to boost Ukraine’s gas production. And not just once.” Archer, Hunter Biden’s crony, funneled Burisma money to Richard Blumenthal “three times in 2013. The next year, Blumenthal returned the favor by backing legislation that would directly benefit Burisma and Hunter Biden.”
