“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it,” said Nazi propaganda master Joseph Goebbels.
Such is the case with global warming hysterics who have recently begun to make headway among concerned citizens.
When Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came on the scene, she immediately began to make wild, hysterical predictions about the end of civilization.
“Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us, are looking up, and we’re like: ‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?”
To be fair to AOC, she was quoting a UN report that claims in 12 years, we’ll reach a “point of no return” when it comes to climate change. That is, if we don’t do something in 12 years, warming will be out of control and we’ll be unable to avert catastrophe.
Anthony Watts performs the necessary lobotomy, quoting from a 1989 AP report:
A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.
Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ″eco- refugees,′ ′ threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP.
He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.
But don’t try and stop AOC. She’s on a roll.
At an NAACP forum yesterday, AOC predicted that the city of Miami would disappear in a few years unless her Green New Deal is enacted.
“When it comes to climate change, what is not realistic is not responding with a solution on the scale of the crisis — because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years,” the New York Democrat said Wednesday at an NAACP forum. “So we need to be realistic about the problem.”
AOC has tried to make climate change a racial issue because, well, it’s easier to sell that way and apparently all those people who were going to die in 2000 if we didn’t do anything about global warming are mostly people of color.
Actually, her agenda is not hidden at all. The “Green New Deal” has little to do with climate change and everything to do with “economic justice.”
In July, then-Ocasio-Cortez chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti revealed that the Green New Deal was not “originally a climate thing at all … we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”
Chakrabarti, 33, said the Green New Deal was about changing the economy to make it more equitable.
“I think … it’s dual. It is both rising to the challenge that is existential around climate and it is building an economy that contains more prosperity,” he said. “More sustainability in that prosperity — and more broadly shared prosperity, equitability, and justice throughout.”
But scaring the bejeebers out of people is more fun, more profitable politically and, as a bonus, results in a massive transfer of wealth from those who earned it to those who didn’t.
It appears to be working. The latest polling on climate change shows Americans beginning to swallow the Kool-Aid:
According to the AP VoteCast survey, 7% of voters in the 2018 midterm election called the environment the top issue facing the country. By contrast, 26% said healthcare was the top issue, 23% said immigration and 18% said the economy and jobs. Democratic voters were far more likely than Republican voters to call the environment the top issue, 12% to 2%.
In the new poll, roughly three out of four Americans say they believe climate change is happening and a large majority of those think humans are at least partly to blame. In total, 47% of all Americans say they think climate change is happening and is caused mostly or entirely by human activities; 20% think it’s caused about equally by human activities and natural changes in the environment; and 8% think it’s happening but is caused mostly or entirely by natural changes in the environment.
Climate scientists may be convinced that the earth is warming, but there is wide disagreement about how fast and how much humans are responsible. But for AOC and other climate hysterics, they’ve learned at the feet of a master propagandist:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

Let’s leave reality for a moment and assume Miami is going to be flooded by raising sea level rise. If this were true, the Green New Deal could do nothing to stop it. That is because third world nations and China are ramping up fossil fuel use very rapidly. In addition they are heavily relying on coal, which of all fossil fuels has the highest CO2 emission per unit of energy. Now lets get back to reality. The exaggerated predictions of sea level rise has it at 10.5 inches by 2100. That couldn’t flood Miami. The second reality point is the most rapid sea level rise was before 1950, and it has slowed since then, so we won’t be seeing a 10.5 increase.
Tim Ball snapped the hoakie stick . When Mann no showed in court his climate model the jig was up . Even the IPCC won’t use that crap but i’ll bet the NY Times
would be happy to print it again . …..Then do a retraction the size of a stamp .
The new MSM code of conduct . Print complete BS , see if anyone catch’s the lie and if they do well then ….don’t you know they were only joking or some other little weasel “clarification ” is buried on page 10 .
The N Y Times needs to stop killing trees, we need then to soak up all the hot air coming out of the brain dead editors at that failing business .
I wonder if they are just really bitter that Comey and the other slime ball leakers are no longer providing cheap material ?

Don’t know about anybody else, but I am in huge favor of a warmer world: more moderate temperatures, especially at higher latitudes during winter, more stable crop production, and many other nice things about a warm world, in contrast to a cold one. Too bad it’s just not true. If it were possible, I’d do all I could to support global warming, but I really don’t favor wasting my money.
Would someone please call the zoo and tell them that their escaped howler monkey has been located
The Raptor has spoken . Higher ground Miami or else a big bad thing is going to happen says the NY bartender .
Global warming was trending from the early seventies to the late nineties, but no warming has been observed over the last twenty years. Continued warming can be shown, though, if you tamper with the data, which has been done by NASA and NOAA since the warming trend ceased. The case for anthropogenic global warming is built on this increasingly brazen fraudulence.
