There’s a pattern with New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
A natural event happens — it doesn’t matter much what kind of event it is — and her immediate reaction is to blame it on “climate change.”
It’s a knee-jerk reaction that was, frankly, worn to death by climate alarmists before her like Al Gore and Bill Nye.
On Monday, AOC sent out a tweet blaming the wildfires ravaging parts of California right now on “climate change,” stating that this is what “climate change” looks like and even throwing in a hit on the un-scientific nature of the Republicans for good measure.
Naturally, it ended with a time frame for us to fix it and promotion of the Green New Deal.
“This is what climate change looks like,” tweeted AOC. “The GOP like to mock scientific warnings about climate change as exaggeration. But just look around: it’s already starting. We have 10 years to cut carbon emissions in half. If we don’t, scenes like this can get much worse.”

The problem with this statement is that California wildfires aren’t anything new. In fact, Capital Public Radio has a visual timeline that shows just how wildfires have hit California dating back well before the 1950s. Like any natural disaster, wildfires are worse in some years than they are others.
This picture below shows an accumulated map of wildfires that date back to 1878 all the way up to 1950.
The idea that humans are causing wildfires due to their effect on the planet is incredibly shaky.
While many of AOC’s online group of trained seals applauded and cheered her blatant attempt at agenda promotion, much of the internet wasn’t having her scaremongering.
The fires in SoCal have little to do with any climate change issues and a lot to do with infrastructure mismanagement in an area that’s always been bone-dry for at least half the year. Not every single weather-related event is a result of climate change…

The United States is one of the lowest carbon emissions producers in the world. Even if we cut our carbon emissions to ZERO. China and India are still putting out more. You still are not making any sense about this. The U.S.A. can’t save the world on its own.

Or maybe its a result of severe mismanagement and development in fire prone areas. Not saying climate change isnt real, but californian wildfires are as common as pennies in wishing wells. Not a good example to use to push your agenda

It takes a special kind of person to blame forest fires that are caused by power companies, and made worse by poor forest management, on climate change. Forest fires were going on before humans existed. Climate emergency is a complete fraud that will tax us all into poverty.

The point made here is pretty clear. Wildfires and California go hand in hand. They have them so frequently that it’s a wonder they don’t name their sports teams after it.
Regardless, AOC’s tweet has shown us that she’s willing to stand on the ashes of people’s homes and lives in order to paint the GOP with the blame as well as pushing her pet project, which is pretty disgusting in and of itself. Your life burning down in front of you matters little. It’s all a political prop to her.

It always amazes me when people claim that we are feeling the effect of climate change right now. The earth has warmed at most one degree and more probably less than that. This is less than is often seen in the average temperature variation in one year to another. If we are not seeing dramatic climate impacts as the temperature varies year to year, we can’t be having them from any warming that has occurred.
There is however a human element to the California wild fires. The environmentalists have prevented proper foliage management such trimming brush under power lines. One behavior that is very typical of liberals is to blame something that they have caused on someone else, or in this case, climate change. Those blocking the pipe lines back east are already blaming the gas companies for the shortage of natural gas.
Just like Moonbeam Brown said blaming Climate Change on the Wildfires instead of the poor forest managment practices because of the Sierra Club idiots Moonbeam Brown tried to blame Climate Change skeptics for the fires knowing Brown is a typical liberal Democrat dumber then a stump
Like most issues, there is both complexity & nuance involved with the California wildfires. I think most sensible folks realize that the ongoing fire emergency is a combination of factors: Poor forest management, restrictive environmental policies, Short sighted decisions by the utility & CA Public Service Commission and lack of historical context or fact checking by a predominantly activist media and political “hype” from various political leaders. PLENTY of blame to go around! However, the Green New Deal is no answer the ANYTHING…other than energy POVERTY. When it comes to intelligent, thoughtful and well informed debate on a myriad of challenging issues, including climate, I say “More COWBELL!”
Why would ‘most sensible people’ have a clue about any of these factors?
