Counterprotesters tore down a barricade Wednesday in front of Canadian National (CN) railway tracks near Edmonton, Alberta, after environmental activists erected it.
The activists who blocked the tracks are opposed to the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia.
But the blockade was not up for long as another group soon had the barrier down and in the back of a truck.
Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Paul Belzil issued a province-wide 30-day injunction against the original protesters. The injunction empowers the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to enforce the law at any time.
Environmentalists have brought railway traffic to a standstill now for two weeks across Canada, bringing the threat of food and fuel shortages closer every day.

The activists behind the protest are claiming to represent the interests of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation in British Columbia. But representatives from the group demanded Thursday that the protesters cease and desist, saying the pipeline will bring economic benefits to the Wet’suwet’en people and the project is “none of their business.”
Edmonton City News journalist Carly Robinson captured the event on video.

Robinson showed the protesters leaving the site.
Pro oil and gas group, United We Roll just drove up for what appears to be a photo op on a day they are calling victory for Alberta.
CN police have asked them to leave because a train is scheduled, and had to order a slow down on the tracks (from 70 to 30 mph). pic.twitter.com/QJ6FCXp1V1

CN Rail is unable to conduct its usual business of carrying passengers and freight across Canada and has laid off 1,000 employees as a result of the blockade.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has offered no plan to solve the crisis, short of canceling his planned trip to Barbados this week where he planned to discuss his wish for a Canadian seat on the United Nations Security Council with Caribbean governments.
Conservative Opposition Leader Andrew Scheer has criticized the prime minister for coming up with “the weakest response to a national crisis in Canadian history.”

If Trudeau wasn’t pretending to be Prime Minister he would probably be
in black face at the barricades .
Gee what a big surprise . Well done Ontario .
Andrew Scheer has criticized the prime minister for coming up with “the weakest response to a national crisis in Canadian history.” This is why the common citizens need to take the law into their own hands. Dismantling the barricade is an excellent example.
Arrest the stupid enviromentalists for block the Tracks charge them with Sabotage lock them up for life feed them bread and water
Looks like some is standing up to these Eco-Freaks these Back to Nature weirdos and Keep it in the Ground jerks its just how many trees were used to make their stupid barracade.I just wish someone would round up these Ecology Freaks and strand them in the Wilderness
These are not even local or Native protesters.
Maybe financed by Russia or OPEC to weaken the competition.
The problem is even if Canada shuttered all Oil and gas development and closed all the wells we would have to import our oil and gas. It just doesn’t go away, are these protesters this daft?
Yep
