Former Vice President Al Gore invoked God in a recent interview about his new global warming film, saying the good Lord “intends for us to open our eyes and take responsibility for the moral consequences of our actions.”
Gore sat down with Interview to discuss his upcoming film “An Inconvenient Sequel,” which hits theaters in July. After comparing the fight to stop global warming to past movements, like the civil rights and abolitionist movements, Gore turned to preaching.
“Regarding the climate movement, there are people who say, ‘God is in complete control of everything that happens, and if the Earth is getting warmer, then maybe God intends that,’” Gore said. “Well, no.”
“God intends for us to take responsibility for how we treat God’s creation, and if we choose to use the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet as an open sewer for 110-million tons of global-warming pollution every day, the consequences are attributable to us,” Gore told Interview Thursday.
“And if you are a believer, as I am, I think God intends for us to open our eyes and take responsibility for the moral consequences of our actions,” Gore said.
His new film comes out 11 years after “An Inconvenient Truth,” which is credited with sparking a wave of global warming activism. It shot Gore’s fame to new heights as well as some scientists and activist who featured in the film.
In the film, Gore made lots of predictions that never came true, but he still told the Hollywood reporter last year he had “underestimated” how bad man-made global warming would get.
Last year, The Daily Caller News Foundation went back and watched Gore’s most alarmist predictions in his 2006 film and found it was still alarmingly inaccurate. (READ: An Inconvenient Review: After 10 Years Al Gore’s Film Is Still Alarmingly Inaccurate)
Gore also compared the global warming movement to past movements, including the fights for civil rights and to get win women the right to vote.
“I think they’re more similar than different,” Gore said of the parallels between past movements and the global warming movement.
“The gay rights movement of recent years has been an inspiring victory for humanity and it is in the tradition of the civil rights movement when I was a young boy in the South, the women’s suffrage movement when my mother was a young woman in Tennessee, the abolition movement much farther back, and the anti-apartheid movement when I was in the House of Representatives,” Gore said. “All of these movements have one thing in common: the opposition to progress was rooted in an outdated understanding of morality.”
“If somebody had told me, even seven years ago, that in 2017 gay marriage would be legal in all 50 states, and even celebrated by almost two-thirds of the American people, I would have said, ‘I sure hope so, but I think that’s probably unrealistic,’” Gore said.
“But it happened. And the reason it happened, as with the civil rights movement before it, is that when the extraneous issues that stop people from really taking a look at the real issue are pushed aside, they get a clear view of a simple binary choice between right and wrong,” Gore said.

After you’ve cited every event in history from creation to gay marriage you claim God wants you to bilk us out of every last dollar we have to “fight climate change”? And everyone must immediately give up every modern attribute you say is destroying the climate? I wouldn’t donate 2 cents to build you an outhouse in hell; even though you’ll need one because you’re so “full of it”!
I have noticed a pattern among many liberals. If it is something that they don’t want to do, then they say leave it totally in God’s hands. I have suffered through more than one sermon while visiting someone’s church where the preacher was saying we shouldn’t have armies and weapons. We should leave the defense of this country in God’s hands.
Yet, when it comes to something they want to do, such as drastically altering out society because of climate change, then it is something that we should do, not God.
I’m sure God wants us to take responsibility for our fate, be it national defense or climate change, so in that way I agree with Al Gore, HOWEVER.
God gave us the Ten Commandments. Included was “Thou shall not lie.” If the climate change movement was really doing what God wants, they wouldn’t be lying to support a cause where the science is falling apart. This includes lying by altering historical climate data, lying by hiding data showing that ocean acidification doesn’t exist, and lying by eliminating sensors in cooler location from the surface data reading.
When it comes to what God wants us to do, I’m sure it is to tell the truth about climate change, abandon the fraud, and move on to solving real problems.
You’re onto something here David. The left wing has discovered God now that they think THEY can define “justice”, and of course God IS a just God…
It’s a clever manipulation of both language and theology, designed to imply that God is a Socialist, and socialism equals justice. (Even the new politically driven Pope has gotten in on this action.) Rest assured, all other less useful or contradictory God attributes will be tossed to the curb by the “reborn” left as these become burdens.
There’s a lesson in this for conservatives as well. Beware the urge to justify politics with faith.
Al Gore couldn’t get enough voters and I’m sure God was telling them to vote for him too .
It is actually amazing that this pathological exaggerator even gets out of his black SUV .
Ok maybe to run in and buy all those carbon offsets and get a massage but talk about
the earth has a fever . Nah Inconveniently that bit of fiction already trashed his credibility . Maybe mini Al can carry his torch instead . The Great Flood as witnessed from his Malibu waterfront property . Got to walk the talk after all .
How many sequels can he milk outta that turkey ? Yep, he’s milking a turkey and his followers think he’s saving the planet.
Once again Big Al is speaking of things about which he knows very little…
In 1971, Gore enrolled in Vanderbilt Divinity School where, according to Bill Turque, author of “Inventing Al Gore,” he received F’s in five of the eight classes he took over the course of three semesters.

Divinity school…. go figure . “How do Swaggart and Baker do it? Think I’ll enroll” .
One of his books ASSUALT ON REASON proves he is delerious and insane and ubstable and needs a trip to a nut house
He’s finally reached his tipping point. They just have to build churches and the religion is officcial.
God don’t deal with politics and settled science. The man’s got no shame, non at all.
Tipper dumped the loser.
God wants Al Gore tell the truth quit his lying return his unearned prizes retract all his idiotic statements and live life asa hermit away from everyone
And how does Al Gore presume to know what God wants?
The arrogance and hubris of this man have no limits. The media does not like to discuss the issue, but Al clearly suffered a psychotic break with reality shortly after he lost the Presidential election. He then gained nearly 40 pounds, grew a Ted Kazynski hermit’s beard, and had some sort of quasi-religious conversion as he withdrew from normal society.
Over time Al embraced the religion of global warming, branding himself as the David Koresh equivalent for this lost souls movement. Perhaps it should be no surprise that Al now believes he can divine the will of God…
Despite his faults, the movement continues to stand by their man. To them, he’s telling white lies. I say he’s a white liar.
Gator, you and I know that is how they work, Snake oil salesman to the end! As long as it earns him $$$$ that is all that matters!
Uh, sorry Al. Far more likely that God wants you to stop lying and quit spreading fear mongering nonsense.
I guess he could try saying “Lets look at the facts,” but I dont think that will work.
