Left-wing activists plan to use Friday in Washington, DC, to march and “shut down business-as-usual” for the banks and financial institutions they say profit from “the climate crisis and immigrant detention.”
This is the fourth time this year a group of hard-left D.C. protesters has planned to cause gridlock during the morning commute to draw attention to its climate cause.
Organizers claim banks underwrite the fossil fuel industry “that caused the climate crisis,” and add “Black Rock, Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase are now profiting off of climate chaos by investing in the companies that are contracting with ICE to finance border wall construction and run for-profit prisons and detention centers.”
The mass action begins during early rush hour in downtown Washington, D.C., followed in Franklin Square (14th St. and I St. NW, Washington, DC 20005) for a rally featuring Jane Fonda and Fire Drill Fridays along with Saket Soni, the executive director of the National Guestworker Alliance, GreenFaith, the Franciscan Action Network and other climate protesters.
At 12 noon they will march off through the streets of D.C. to visit the banks and financial institutions they accuse of profiting from “the climate crisis and immigrant detention.”
On December 6 we are partnering w/ @FireDrillFriday to #ShutDownDC for #ClimateJustice and #ImmigrationJustice https://t.co/kxY6PYVeSI See you on the streets @XRebelDC @SunriseMvmtDC @350_DC @codepink @fridaysfuturedc @RisingTideNA

Friday’s protests are being conducted in concert with the international Climate Strike, which is tied to the Fridays for Future movement started by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

This just proves what P.T. Barnum ment when he said THRES A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE those people marching in their silly protests carryin their banners and signs and chanting their mindless slogans are proof of that
And they got to the 20 person protest using fossil fuels .
The Swedish meatball great caper went flat .
Sorry cup cake no one is buying it .
This eco radical Socialist tantrum will be over shadowed by this mornings jobs number. Under President Trump’s leadership, the American economy is leaving the rest of the West in its dust. Meanwhile, Canada lost tens of thousands of jobs during the same period, mostly in the Prairies. The European Union is stuck in neutral, rolling backwards downhill. If that’s how they choose to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the public will expect tangible benefits for their personal sacrifices. Being asked (by the UN) to triple their efforts to meet unattainable goals must grate on those struggling to feed themselves and heat their homes.
Its their own ignorance and their stupidity their going to force motorists into sitting there with their engines idling while these nit-wits clog up traffic with their stupid protest just like the idiots who disrupted that football game between Harvard and Yale carrying their stupid banners and signs with stupid slogans on them and chanting their stupid slogans they should all be sited for Obstructing Traffic
Two points for the instigators of this rabble of useful idiots to note:
First, Creating a traffic jam is not a great way to endear the average person to your cause. It’ll likely just aggravate motorists and make them more likely to dismiss you and your concerns out of hand in the future.
Second, Creating a traffic jam drives up gasoline consumption. Ex. My Nissan SUV will routinely get over 35 mpg on the open road, but in a traffic jam it craters to about 16 mpg. I don’t like polluting any more than I like paying for more gas than I need, so it would be nice if you activists would find a green way to draw attention to your green cause.
