Attorneys general from mostly blue states have issued 80 legal actions to prevent President Donald Trump from rolling back Obama-era environmental regulations, according to a report published Tuesday.
Attorneys general (AGs) from Massachusetts, New York, and elsewhere, are using the court system to stymie Trump’s goal of peeling back rules targeting coal power plants, and methane from oil and natural gas extraction. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been at the forefront of the effort.
Schneiderman, a Democrat and virulent critic of Trump, has been the most aggressive, leading or joining in on 49 legal actions against the administration.
His counterparts in Massachusetts and California — Maura Healey and Xavier Becerra — were not far behind with 47 legal actions each.
The report came from the State Energy and Environment Impact Center, a group created in 2017 to escalate attacks against Trump’s moves to eliminate several of his predecessor’s climate regulations.
The group was the recipient of a $6 million grant from former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an Independent. The money is used to help AGs ramp up campaigns against Trump.
The Center was launched in August by David J. Hayes, who served as the Interior Department’s deputy secretary under former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. He helps coordinate the left-leaning AG’s legal actions.
“State attorneys general are using every tool in their toolbox,” Hayes said in the report. “Indeed, attorneys general possess the unique power to stop unlawful actions dead in their tracks at the courthouse.”
Healey, a Democrat, mirrored much of Haye’s sentiments in her comments about the report. “We have even more work to do,” Healey, who has also joined Schneiderman in lawsuits against ExxonMobil’s climate change record, told reporters shortly after the Center published its report. “Not only are they not enforcing the laws, they’re actually working at counter purposes.”
The mostly Democratic AGs contingent has teed off on the Trump administration’s repeal of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, an Obama-era rule designed to cut carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generation.

From the article, “The mostly Democratic AGs contingent has teed off on the Trump administration’s repeal of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, an Obama-era rule designed to cut carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generation.”
This is correct, The Clean Power Plan was designed to reduce CO2 emissions and was a key plan of meeting the Paris Treaty. However, that was not the legal reason for the plan. The legal reason was a bogus claim that particulate matter from generation of power had to be further reduced. In order to sue, the AG’s would have to prove that the legal reason was valid, which is impossible.
Other Obama regulations were either illegal, had no foundation, based on fake data, or all three. These suits can not do well in court.
Are “blue state” residents willing to sacrifice personal prosperity in order to lower atmospheric CO2? If so, they should base every decision they make accordingly.

What does Schneiderman actually do for a living ? It looks like
he is a tax payer financed lobbyist for the ” Clean Energy ” industry .
If he plans to spin this naughty EXXON shake down into a political office that ship has sailed .
Who cares what EXXON knew or for that matter anyone else that produces a highly valuable product to society . If the politicians are so worried why the hypocrisy . In law inducing breach of contract
occurs when a party knows the facts yet encourages behaviour that would break a valid contract . The encouraging party is then subject to being sued for damages . Politicians (if they really believed all the earth has a fever crap ) should be banning fossil fuels but they won’t . The only conclusion is that their little pout and feigned outrage is nothing more than self promotion and a money grab .
Fortunately the vast majority of AG ‘s have not joined the “clean energy ” lobby group thus preserving their integrity .
Why should tax payers be paying an AG to be a lobbyist while on the public payroll ? If one of these jackasses was my AG I would demand they refund their salary and be replaced .
These Obama Era AG’s need totaly need jobs as Janitors/Constodian’s then they can clean up the big big mess Obama left behind
