On the 30th anniversary of James Hansen’s Congressional testimony, scientists agree he got it right.”
Judgment on Hansen’s ’88 climate testimony: ‘He was right’ » Yale Climate Connections
It would be a pretty massive stretch to describe climate fraudsters Mann, Rahmstorf, and Dessler as being scientists, but let’s take a look at what Hansen actually said at those hearings.
He predicted a large increase in the number of 90 and 100 degree days in Washington DC and Omaha, Nebraska.
Below are the temperature records at the closest USHCN stations to Washington DC and Omaha, Nebraska. Both show a decline in the number of 90 and 100 degree days.
Hansen was completely wrong, but in climate science being wrong is always right, and being right is always wrong.
The consensus of climate experts tells us NASA’s James Hansen was correct in 1988.

In 1988, Hansen predicted Lower Manhattan would be underwater by 2018.
“The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water.”

Hansen predicted heat and drought for the Midwest.

Since Hansen’s forecast for Midwest drought, the Midwest has had above normal precipitation almost every year.

Hansen predicted global warming would lower the water level in the Great Lakes.

Great Lakes water levels have increased and are near record highs.

Hansen predicted the Arctic would be ice-free by 2018.

Arctic sea ice volume is the highest in thirteen years.
Hansen got every single one of his predictions exactly backward, which is why Democrats and the left hail him as being a prophet.
Part II – Real Climate Science
Global warming/climate change et al. is a fascist lie, plain and simple.
Trying to claim that failed predictions were right is not the typical mode of operation of the alarmists. What they typically do is just ignore the failed predictions and make new ones. With the help of the mainstream media, they have the luxury of ignoring anything that doesn’t support their cause.
Whether they ignore or try to rationalize failed predictions, they will always make new predictions of disaster that will happen if the world doesn’t do what they want.
I do beleive that Hansen was arrested one time or more over something. He is just a attention monger LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME
You are right, it was never about science. Global warming was started in an effort to force de-industrialization, increase the power of government, and provide an excuse for new taxes. Later other agendas joined such as transferring the wealth of industrial nations to developing nations and those hoping to use climate change to destroy free enterprise.
Don’t forget that there are dozens of disciplines of science. Climate change isn’t even a science in that it deviates from the basic principles to support a political movement. However, what is typical of science is real investigations based on real world data and real peer reviews. In these other disciplines, if the data doesn’t match the theory, then the theory is either modified or scrapped. In the non-science of climate change, the data is modified to fit the theory (the UN climate models).
James Hansen – “I tend to be naive and gullible, I guess….”
Not hardly. It was Hansen who believe us to be naive and gullible.

“If the empirical evidence for climate change is eroded, then science may indeed become just another special interest group in the debate”
Science has indeed “become just another special interest group”. Not because the empirical evidence for climate change has eroded but because LIES were presented as science to promote a political agenda. It was never about science.
Jim Hansen must be right. I couldn’t help but notice that my coffee this morning seem to be a tad warmer than the one I had yesterday. I demand that all power must come from windmills starting tomorrow otherwise anyone who disagrees with me is a mysogenistic, rascist Islamophobe who doesn’t believe that Hussein Obama is the Messiah and Hilary Clinton is his messenger.
