Skeptical Climate Scientists Coming In From the Cold

In the world of climate science, the skeptics are coming in from the cold.

Researchers who see global warming as something less than a planet-ending calamity believe the incoming Trump administration may allow their views to be developed and heard. This didn’t happen under the Obama administration, which denied that a debate even existed. Now, some scientists say, a more inclusive approach ‚Äì and the billions of federal dollars that might support it ‚Äì could be in the offing.

“Here’s to hoping the Age of Trump will herald the demise of climate change dogma, and acceptance of a broader range of perspectives in climate science and our policy options,” Georgia Tech scientist Judith Curry wrote this month at her popular Climate Etc. blog.

William Happer, professor emeritus of physics at Princeton University and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, is similarly optimistic. “I think we’re making progress,” Happer said. “I see reassuring signs.”

Despite harsh criticism of their contrarian views, a few scientists like Happer and Curry have pointed to evidence that global warming is less pronounced than predicted. They have also argued that this slighter warming would bring positive developments along with problems. For the first time in years, skeptics believe they can find a path out of the wilderness into which they’ve been cast by the “scientific consensus.” As much as they desire a more open-minded reception by their colleagues, they are hoping even more that the spigot of government research funding ‚Äì which dwarfs all other sources ‚Äì will trickle their way.

President-elect Donald Trump, who has called global warming a “hoax,” has chosen for key cabinet posts men whom the global warming establishment considers lapdogs of the oil and gas industry: former Texas Gov. Rick Perry to run the Energy Department; Attorney General Scott Pruitt of Oklahoma to run the Environmental Protection Agency; and Exxon chief executive Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.

The warmists were given a head start of $billions of tax payers money and years of collusion . Real scientific research has a lot of catching up to do. Bjorn Lomborg is right , of course. Spend on adapting to erratic climate rather than trying to lower CO2 ppm. If the atmosphere really is warming, figure out how to exploit the benefits and deal with the downside. Quit worrying about glaciers and ice caps. Go save the whales, hug some trees. Why deny Greenland what we take for granted?

Thank G-d that these true scientists will now no longer have to hide or avoid various questions and come forward and speak the truth.

Until now and possibly further yet these true scientists have had to hide or at least avoided the issue for fear of having their careers unjustifiably ruined and themselves publically castigated to the extent of having their character ruined.

And done so by the leftist extremist Nazis of the ” Greenhouse Effect ” , ” Global Warming “, and ” Climate Change ” lying leftist Nazi pigs.

Is the leftist extremist Nazi cabal going to repent and apologize for what they have done to not only the true scientists but the public in general who paid for their leftist extremist Nazi lies ?

According to jerks like congressman Bobby Kennedy, they should be imprisoned .

I say Bobby Kennedy should be imprisoned .

Dr. Judith Curry deserves a lot of credit for maintaining her scientific integrity through
some very challenging times when the Obama Administration , political operatives and the con men running the scary global warming hoax did everything to shut down
even open discussion of climate science . False claims that “the science is settled ” were nothing more than bullying tactics from people with a self serving business or political agenda .
Dr. Curry and many other scientists who are not afraid of practicing the scientific method never gave up , nor will they . They are the hero’s and hope for a return to climate reality . We have learned much and have a long way to go .
All the Very Best in 2017 to Dr. Curry and all those who have given so much of their time and thought to bring common sense to an issue that has been twisted ,politicized and gamed .
